In the following video, Rob Rives demonstrates the Zoom F4 Field Recorder, and how it can be a useful addition to any professional sound engineer’s inventory. This video explores the functions, controls, and features of the Zoom F4, including the inputs and outputs, signal flow, and peripherals, including the EXH-6 module for adding an additional set of inputs. We showcase the super-low-noise preamps, which offer 75 dB of gain and are taken from the flagship F8 recorder. Rives also shows off the integrated mixer, limiters with 10 dB of headroom, high-pass filters, mid-side decoding, and the high-quality monochromatic display. Additional topics covered include powering the unit with 8 AA batteries, Hirose connection for battery packs, or the included AC adapter.
