This is an Impact 45" white satin umbrella with removable black backing. Umbrellas soften, broaden, and diminish the light output of any tungsten or flash light source. Umbrellas with a white interior will soften and weaken light more than an umbrella with a silver lining. A white umbrella without a black backing may also be used as a makeshift softbox, although the use of the light will not be as efficient as with a softbox.
Choosing umbrella size is determined by the size of the subject, and the strength of the light supply being used. Choosing an umbrella surface is as subjective as choosing a paint and brush.
This size is perfect for a 1 - 2 person half-length portrait, or a 3x4 ft product setup.

I have some pro photo umbrellas and bought the weston silver travel umbrellas when I ordered this one. The impact is by far the best umbrella I own. I shoot everything from big families to small still lives and the impact diffuses the light super well. The end result is beautiful soft white light with pristine details. The build quality is very good It feels super strong and should last a long time. I carry a lot of gear and the size doesn't bother me at all. It folds down securely and tucks right in with the rest of my equipment. It's a must have!

The umbrella broke after 7 months of moderate use. The metal cap that is supposed to hold the umbrella to the shaft does not stay in place. It would pop off sending the cap flying into the air (and at the subject!). Once this happens, it can't be fixed or secured back into place.
The umbrella was used lightly by non-professional (maybe twice a month).
Bottom line: the construction is cheap. Better to invest slightly more money into a better brand. Impact stands and clamps are great, just not their umbrellas.

good value for the price.
Only complaint is that when i took the removable backing off, there was a little bit of black that had rubbed off on the white umbrella.

I bought this umbrella for two reasons...
1: Size. It's a little larger than some, thus creating a larger and softer source.
2. Removable Black Backing. I like having the ability to change from shoot-thru and bounce depending on the situation.
It's a good price and has seemed to hold up well so far.

I use this indoors as part of a flash/umbrella stand. Its big, but works great. For smaller rooms, the 32" version might be a better choice.

Bought this umbrella as my first one. Picked it because I wanted a cheap one when I didn't really know what to look for. I really liked it though. The attachment points for the black cover seem a bit flimsy and seem like they could brake fast. But so far, so good.
The thin white satin gives a really beautiful soft light and I am really happy with this umbrella. If I buy a second umbrella I might actually buy another one of these.

For the money you are getting a very good product. I use them in a home studio and they work great. I purchased 2 for the price of one Westcott! I would recommend this product

Good Solid umbrella. The clear plastic sleeve thats included helps protect them when not in use. The removable black backing a plus for almost no extra charge compared to the version without it. One note, Will NOT fit in the umbrella center hole right under the bulb for Elinchrom Digital Style 600RX's (ELDS600RXK)
Had to use the umbrella clamp on the stands.

The umbrella produces good soft lighting by using it as a shoot-thru. Its nice having the option of either shoot-thru or bounce. 45" is a good size to have for head shots/portraits. The size also makes it good to take on location.
The prize is what makes this umbrella a winner. The reason why I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because the white umbrella came dirty. Wheres the quality control!

Lightweight and perfect size for portraits and location shoots. Came in handy at a recent event where the electricity went out. Umbrella spread the light beautifully. Have not used as a shoot-through yet, but like that this option is available.

I grabbed these when I was in the store for a different reason recently as Im always losing or dropping my umbrellas. I needed something cheap as I was rushing off to a job and was limited on funds at the moment-these were PERFECT! I am using them like my more expensive Umbrellas and they are doing the job just as well! Glad I bought them! They feel sturdy and well built and they cost next to nothing!

I bought two of these umbrellas and they seem to work well in regards to lighting, however the handle is a bit flimsy and bends while in my light stands. I'm worried that they might bend permanently or even break over time. For now, they are doing ok.

There is nothing glamorous about any umbrella, this one being no exception. It works as well as any other umbrella that I own. I don't expect these to hold up particularly well - but at this price I can afford to replace them!
