Since the other reviews have discussed how the product works, I won't spend a lot of time discussing that. I would like to address a couple of issues that were mentioned:
1) Hard to put on: It is true that it does take some effort to put it on the first time; although it does get easier to do after taking it off and putting it on several times. I personally would rather have it a little hard to put on (and come off accidentally) than having it a little too easy to put on (and come off accidentally).
2)Using with glasses: I wear contacts or glasses - depending on conditions - and it does work with glasses and is comfortable although it does cut off the corners of the viewfinder a bit when you do so. I should note that I am very near-sighted and my glasses have a very high refractive index which makes for a very narrow field of view.
3) Blocks the LCD: It does do this. Although, I just push it up and out of the way when it is a problem.
Overall, I like using this eye cup. It is one of the more comfortable ones that I have used.

Very difficult to install on the D300. I am not a clumsy person but I was actually bleeding by the time I got this on the camera. Three times trying to push it on it slipped until my finger was cut...However once I finally got it on it worked as advertised. It is very comfortable and blocks out disturbing light. Before using this I would press my eye hard against the camera to get the best view. Had it been easier to install I would have given it 5 stars

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
This is an outstanding addition for your camera. Easy on and it works great. Hard to believe it makes a difference when looking into your viewfinder but it does. Can be turned for horizontal or vertical shots. No real problems viewing images with it on. Blocks very little of the rear screen.
Don't hesitate. Get this for your Nikon.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
Holds your face/nose a little further away from LCD screen but not quite enough for my nose.
It does shield the light from viewing.
The bottom of hood covers the top of the LCD, and I don't think it would work with the cover that comes with the camera.

I like the fit & finish, a bit hard to remove, but that is good because the other brand I had fell off. It does partially block the LCD but it is flexible enough to hold out of the way when viewing the screen

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
I use it on my Nikon D90. It eliminates extraneous light and makes it easier to get a feel for the view I am seeing through the viewfinder. The only downside is that I have to take my eyeglasses off to take a photo. Before using it, I could just look over my glasses (but then had the problem with extraneous light...). Using the eyecup improves my photo taking experience, but is requiring me to develop new habits.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
Works as advertised, but you cannot use the Nikon screen protector when then HoodEye is in place. The HoodEye has a lip that snaps over a ridge on the camera body to hold it firmly in place, but that's also the same ridge that is used by the screen protector. So, it's one or the other. The stock Nikon eye cup does not have this lip and stays in place fine, but I suppose Hoodman decided the HoodEye needed a more secure attachment due to its size. It's possible one could trim off the lip, but I'm not going to take the risk just to experiment so I'll be returning the HoodEye.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
Far more comfortable then the nikon stock piece on the D90. I found it very easy to attach through snug which is good. Wont fall off like nikons. It does block the top part of the LCD, which can get in the way at times if you need live view. For me and the few occasions I do need it I just make do or can remove it if know I will be shooting video. For previewing it is not an issue since you usually tilt it.My big negative is it does cut off a bit of the corners in the viewfinder. Harder you press it against your face the less it will block but I still cannot get 100% normal viewing. For the comfort, added stability and extra blocked light its well worth [$] and upgrading from the stock eyepiece. Not an issue for me (holster bag), but the size and design may not fit with some camera bags.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
Purchased to provide some space between my face (nose!) and the LCD screen. I was always smashing my face up against that screen to get a photo, and this sometimes caused my photos to be unlevel. Product works great; you can turn it in any orientation to take both portrait and landscape views. It was fairly easy to snap on. Its true you cant remove the LCD cover after putting on the eyecup, but I would only do that to replace the LCD cover anyway. Be sure to buy the correct shape and size for your camera.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
After losing my eyecups for my d60 and d5000, I was looking for alternatives. I didn't want to get the Nikon brand as I already knew how easily it can detach and get lost. After recommendation from NAPP and a friend, I decided to give this a try. I LOVE IT! I live in FL and often shoot in extremely hot conditions. It keeps my face off of the LCD and I have no problems seeing my entire image in the eyecup. It took a bit to attach it to the camera but works great. One thing I can say is that I am unable to close my LCD now without removing the Eyecup, so, I just don't close it. It blocks light very well and is extremely comfortable.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
Great, once installed on Nikon D300. Had to file down the bottom ridge that slips over the viewfinder for this to fit. Pray I will not have to remove it, or ever re-install it.
Great in service, because I can now see over the camera at the scene with my left eye, while looking through the viewfinder with my right eye.
Do wear glasses, but the diopter setting makes them unnecessary, until I step back to view the LCD.
Occludes surrounding light well.

I don't know why I didn't buy this sooner, I love it! It's very comfortable and I don't have the entire back of the camera smashed against my face leaving marks everywhere. Easy to apply, easy to adjust. The only slight drawback is that it dips down to cover a small portion of the top of the view screen. It's such a small area that it doesn't bother me though. Very happy I purchased this.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
This was used on a Nikon D7000, the eye cup installed easily with a very solid click.
The eye cup itself was very comfortable and sealed out light very well while preventing you from having to smash your nose against the LCD.
However the opening of the eye cup is too small and it cuts of the corners of the viewfinder! This is never warned about in the product description and is directly contrary to the stated purpose of the eye cup to "improve viewfinder optics"
Buyer beware the corners of your viewfinder will be cut off.

Using on a D7000. Back of the rubber cup seems to push a little on the screen protector causing it to press against the screen in one little spot. A minor annoyance though easily trimmed with a sharp knife. Does a really good job of eliminating the light leak around the finder, preventing distraction.

Comments about Hoodman HoodEYE Eyecup for Nikon SLRs with 22mm Square Viewfinder Mount:
There were many reviews about how difficult it was to put it on and take it off of a Nikon. I had no trouble doing either with my D90 with the LCD cover in place. However, it did not work at all if I was wearing my glasses, but without my glasses, it was great. That is why I gave it only 1 star---otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars.
Now my son is using it on his D70. He is still young enough not to need glasses.

Hoodman seemed to make quality items, this eyecup came as a recommendation by Nikonians.
It snapped into my D200 positively, and gives it a custom fit. I don't have a big nose, but I find my nose smashing into the LCD when I'm trying to get a good light-seal , maybe the eyecup rubber can be made stiffer?

First off let me say that this in my opinion is worth every penny! It was a little bit of a tight fit, but it wasn't that much of a struggle to put it on and it is so worth it. I love it, I just did a shoot two days agao and immediatly saw a difference. I could see my subject mush better - no annoying light getting in my way!
If you shoot outdoors under full daylight or indoors with overhead lighting you will LOVE this Hoodman's Eyecup. Its also very comfortable around the eye. I personally don't find that it blocks that much of the LCD like some of the other reviews, to me the small amount it blocks is worth it's benefits of blocking light and helping to create stronger images.

This HoodEYE makes the view through the viewfinder so much easier. It blocks the residual light and helps reduce the the tension for that special attempt for the better shot.
