Learning About Hasselblad Cameras and Accessories

Hasselblad makes some of the highest quality camera gear in the world. Mirrorless cameras, such as those in the Hasselblad X series camera line, are lighter than DSLR models. Both the H and X series cameras can use a variety of lenses, making them ideal for shooting landscape, portrait, and still-life photos. Autofocus is faster when shooting moving subjects using DSLR cameras, such as Hasselblad H series cameras, so they're optimal for sports and live action shots. You have a choice of kits and lenses, and cases for your accessories.

Hasselblad Camera Features

Hasselblad cameras in both X and H series models are available in field kits for convenience. With durable field cases, you can carry all your accessories, including:

  • Camera cleaning kits
  • Additional lenses
  • Tripods
  • Extra batteries
  • Wrist and shoulder straps

Hasselblad cameras are available as body only, camera and lens, and camera only. Additional camera lenses are also available in 30, 40, and 90mm sizes. Hasselblad's patented color solution, true focus, and position-locking options aid you in capturing true-to-life photos. Many of its mirrorless and DSLR cameras come with built-in wireless, so you can upload or share photos on the go.

Differences Between Mirrorless and DSLR Cameras

Mirrorless and DSLR cameras are both excellent choices, but they do have some marked differences. Mirrorless cameras, such those within the Hasselblad X series, are suitable if you want a lightweight device and prefer to use the LCD live view to shoot subjects, rather than a viewfinder. Do note that constantly running the LCD depletes the battery faster than occurs with a traditional viewfinder camera, so one of these may not be ideal for extended shoots. DSLR cameras are optimal if you take many action shots, because autofocus is much faster on moving subjects. DSLRs also hold a charge longer because you can use the optical viewfinder as opposed to the LCD screen. On the other hand, they're heavier than mirrorless cameras, and they're slower when using live view mode through the LCD panel.

Using an Aerial Lens

Aerial cameras and lenses are made to take photos from airplanes, helicopters, or drones. Hasselblad has a line of aerial camera lenses compatible with various models of aerial cameras, using a mount shifter or adapter ring. Features of Hasselblad aerial lenses for cameras, such as the Hasselblad 100C, include locking mounts, firmware specifically for aerial photography, and fixed focus capability.
