Hoya ProND1000 Overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 72mm ProND1000 Filter is a solid neutral density filter that enables a 10-stop increase in exposure. This 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

This filter employs Hoya's metallic ACCU-ND coating on both sides of the substrate to create the neutral density effect and ensure maintained color neutrality between filter grades. It is constructed from high-quality clear optical glass for notable image clarity and is set within a durable one-piece aluminum filter ring.

3.0 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 10-stop reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Metallic ACCU-ND coating ensures color accuracy and consistency between different ProND filter grades.
One-piece aluminum ring adds durability and rigidity for assured use and helps to prevent filter jamming.
Constructed from clear optical glass for maintained image clarity.

Hoya ProND1000 Reviews

72mm ProND1000 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from As neutral as it gets! I have been through 3 other brands all with color casts, Lee being the worst of the three. This Hoya is my fourth purchase and I am confident I can sell all the others now. I am amazed at how little colorcast this filter has, virtually none! Great for long exposures during the day. I use it with my mirrorless as it has an added plus...you can see through the filter to compose, focus and meter! Forget the rest, unless you want to spend an hour or so color correcting in LightRoom and/or Photoshop. In my sample photo you will see how natural the color looks! All I can say is I am in love with this filter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing filter I don't see any negative effect on the pictures taken with this filter. It screws on and off really easily and some of my best shots were taken with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK... I purchased this filter to use with my Sony A7Rii. When photographing water in the daylight, it does a fairly good job of smoothing out the water. As it gets darker, since it's not a variable filter, the exposure gets longer and longer and longer. Sometimes the sunset just doesn't last long enough to get the shot. OK, so, maybe I need to test and use it more, but I think I'll have to buy a 4 and a 6 stop to go along with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neutral is right! The most important factor for me in researching a 10-stop filter was to find a neutral filter that was actually neutral (i.e., no color cast from the glass). And as far as I can tell, this filter is a dead ringer for remaining neutral! My colors look just as nice when using this filter as with any other normal exposure. Well done, HOYA!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Filter This filter works very well. The light reduction is about 9.6 stops, which is very close to the advertised 10 stops. It has a slight green cast, but the cast seems to be pretty uniform across the frame, so it's easily corrected in software. This almost neutral color rendition is much better than another ND filter I've tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent filter to reduce light for long exposures I have been trying to take pictures of waves at low light for some time, but it was impossible without an ND filter that would significantly reduce the light to be able to slow my shutter speed enough for the effect I wanted. This filter works well. And it is a true ND, without any added color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great performance. I bought this product to take long exposure photographs in daylight. I use a Canon 70D with a variety of Sigma lenses. When paired with the Hoya 72mm ProND1000 Filter I can capture movement in bright light conditions. There are no drawbacks.
