The 77mm Variable Neutral Density Filter from Bower gives you the capability of shooting with high speed film or high ISO settings on your digital camera, even in direct sunlight. ND filters reduce the amount of light that reaches your film or your sensor, and this variable ND filter allows you to choose just how much light you want to block from 2 to 8 stops. To adjust the amount of light, simply turn the adjustable dial for a seamless adjustment.

With the variable ND filter on your lens, you can control both the exposure time and depth of field in your photos. Without an ND filter, most cameras do not have a shutter speed fast enough to allow you to shoot wide open in bright conditions. By adding an ND filter, you can blur your background and isolate your subject, even under direct sunlight. You can also shoot very long exposures which is useful for landscape and architecture photography. Exposing your shot for a long period can make people, clouds, cars, and other moving objects seemingly disappear from your images.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Get What You Pay For Seems well built and is easy enough to use but as I expected for the price, it's not the highest quality ND and has it's flaws. I took some lovely images with it whilst visiting NY and put it through it's paces on a number of lenses. Be careful when using a wide angle lens, you will get some classic ND issues such as the big 'X' at full closed ND, black spots, soft spots and vignetting. It can be soft around the edges at the extreme wide side (10-20mm.) Having used this for a few weeks I'd definitely suggest spending double the money for a higher quality all round product if you're a serious photographer/videographer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Explore other Options Was going to give it a 2 1/2, but since no halves, got a 2. On any of my 3 lenses, any filtration beyond 3/4 of max, causes significant interference and leaves a large cross-hatched pattern in the middle of the image. Also, at 10mm, the entire exterior ring is visible in the image and does not go away until 18 mm. Not a good product, as this was mostly for wide-angle photography. Should have spent the money for the quality instead of cheaping out....but we live and learn

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price I was a little skeptical purchasing this filter with no consumer reviews. The filter is a quality piece with smooth mocement. It doesn't click between stops so it is infinitely adjustable from 2-8 stops. If I had to nitpick, the only feature I would like is to be able to tell what stop I'm at without having to look, like a click or a notch so I could tell as I'm adjusting, what step it's at. This is something I would recommend for an economy ND filter!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Product. So far so good... I've had this particular ND for about a two weeks now. I've done quite a few tests with it and so far so good. I've used it mostly to capture video with my BMCC. For the range it offers, this ND is pretty well worth the cost, the only downside is that at the mid-highest stop, there's a dark vignette that tends to show up at the upper left side of the image and also in the middle: this most certainly happens when pushed to the max. I'd have to try some of the other more expensive ND's to see the difference. Apart from that I'd say this is a good filter for the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a good ND filter for the price This ND filter feels well built and is easy to operate, for the price it does its work very well, reducing the light and without degrading image quality but you should be careful when using a wide angle: it will not work to its maximum setting because you will see the X bar common to all variable density filters. To get a decent image it will depend of the focal length and the stop value you are using. If you don't want to deal with these problems buy a fixed ND filter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cross Using wide angle lens or maybe 50mm focus length or below, using the max filter concentration, the filter become a X or an cross in the middle. Creating a X or cross section to be darker. The minimum and middle concentration of the ND filter are good. I haven't really used it to it full potential, because i can't go to the max setting of the filter. I would really like to go the max concentration, because it very bright outside in the forests.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but watch for quality Good for the price, but watch for build quality. The glass on one that I purchased spins around so I am having it exchanged for a new one. A little thin but fine by me.
