Phottix Mitros+ Overview

The Phottix Mitros+ TTL Transceiver Flash features a built-in Odin transmitter and receiver as well as full i-TTL functionality for use with Nikon cameras. The Mitros+ has a guide number of 190' at ISO 100 in the 105mm position, useful for illuminating subjects within a zoom range of 24 to 105mm. This radio transmission and reception is compatible with Strato II transmitters in addition to full compatibility with the Odin-series wireless devices. Also, this Mitros+ has memory functions for saving up to three sets of flash and function information for quickly changing when needed.

The flash head has the ability to rotate 180° in each direction and tilt from -7° to +90°. This allows for excellent control over bounce angles during a shoot. Also, the Mitros+ features a recycle time from 0.1 to 5 seconds that can be improved to 2.5 seconds with a quick flash mode.

Additionally, this flash unit features full manual controls and customizable shooting options that include high-speed sync and stroboscopic shooting modes. The flash runs on 4 AA batteries and comes with an attachable diffuser for softening light when needed. Other accessories include a soft case, 3.5mm sync cable, USB cable, USB drive with manual, an adapter for external power packs, and a flash stand.

question

Is there an external battery pack for this? (similar to the Nikon SD-9)
Asked by: Tracy
Yes there is. I use the cyclone PP-4000R with the Nikon power cord for it. You can purchase it seperately. Works great.

question

Can someone please tell me the flash duration for this flash and if its a T1 or a T5 rating?
Asked by: Dan H.
According to the Phottix site, flash duration varies between 1/100 sic and 1/10,000. I assume the shortest flash duration is on the lowest power and or TTL at close distances and the longest duration at full power (although 1/100 sounds suspiciously long, given that sync speeds are usually shorter than that). However, there was no indication whether the listed speeds were based on t0.5 or t0.1.

question

Can this operate as an Odin II transmitter using channels 5-32?
Asked by: Jan M.
Yes. If purchased new, it should have the new firmware loaded. If you already have a Mitros+ for Nikon, you can get the firmware upgrade at phottix.com. This is how I upgraded mine. I always carry two Mitros+ and Odin II. When I need more light, I get out my Nikon flashes and Odin II receivers. The Mitros+ has one of the best interfaces I have ever encountered.

question

I just had two of my Mitros+ lights fail at a wedding after only about a couple of dozen events. I'm seeing tons of horror stories about their customer service online. What the best way to deal with this for the warranty as I need them fixed/replaced immediately.

question

What do I use to mount this on a stand?
Asked by: Thuan T.
The included foot has a 1/4-40 socket on it that will take a light stand or umbrella bracket screw. You can also use a cold shoe mount on the foot.
