The fluid head features separate pan and tilt locks and offers a full 360° pan range. It comes with a pan bar and quick-release plate with a 1/4" screw and locating pin. All the controls are located on the left side, leaving your right hand free for panning. A carrying case is included for the entire system.

The zoom controller attaches to the pan bar via a built-in mounting clamp and connects to your camera with an included cable. It regulates zoom at variable speeds with a pressure-sensitive rocker switch. It can also be used with Sony consumer cameras via an optional Magnus ACM-SAVR AVR adapter cable.

  • Magnus VT-4000 Tripod System with Fluid Head

The Magnus VT-4000 Tripod System with Fluid Head is a stable, sturdy video tripod made from anodized aluminum that can support loads up to 8.8 lb. Overall, this tripod offers many features usually only found on more expensive models. The two-way fluid head provides smooth operation, and features a half-ball mount with a diameter of 65mm, with left and right pan bar mounts. It comes supplied with one pan bar. The VT-4000 tripod system weighs 7.9 lb.

Its 2-stage leg design allows you to adjust the height of the tripod from 27.6" to 59". A middle spreader and passive counterbalance provide enhanced stability to the entire system. The VT-4000 also has separate pan and tilt locks, and a bubble level for precision leveling. The fixed counter-balance spring incorporated in the head will help with smoother tilt movements.

Its provided quick release plate features a standard 1/4"-20 mounting screw with a video pin, and has a sliding range of +20/-25mm - to enable travel capabilities - essential in balancing uneven configurations. The head's tilt angle is adjustable from +90° to -60°.

Magnus VT-4000 reviews

VT-4000 Tripod & Zoom Controller Kit for Canon, Panasonic, Sony is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from smooth action from VT-4000 tripod and zoom controller I use the VT-4000 tripod and zoom controller with my Cannon Vixia HF G20 to video live action demonstrations. The swing action, up and down are very smooth with this head. I used one previously with a non-profit I filmed for. Theirs had several years of use and was a little more broken in. The new one I just purchased for myself is still quite smooth but I know will be even better once broken in. The zoom controller is a must! You can get much more fluid transitions while moving and zooming at the same time. It also saves your arms. You can comfortably rest your hand on the swing arm while moving and zooming. The tripod is very stable and easy to adjust. The head will adjust independently of the tripod legs so you can level with the bubble without the awkward leg-leveling. Just hand-loosen the adjustment knob below the head, tilt to level and re-tighten. Buying the tripod, arm and zoom controller as a package was a good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for My C100 Mark II I purchased the tripod for a recital I'll be filming soon. I needed something that would allow me to pan/tilt easily, and this tripod does just that. It feels sturdy, even with the legs extended, and there is no wobble or shake during movement even with my C100 Mark II and 24-70mm 2.8 lens attached. I'll have to see how it holds up over time, but other reviews I've read indicate the build will last for a long time. The only part I was disappointed with is that the zoom controller I bought as part of the package won't work with my set-up, but that's not surprising at all given the type of camera I have (the zoom controller is designed for camcorders, not the C100). Well worth the investment if you're looking for a good quality economical video tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Semi-Pro Quality I'm not a video professional by any means but this tripod represents a massive increase in quality over my previous, cheaper tripod. I haven't experienced the expensive tripods so I can't compare them but I can certainly say I don't regret this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the money. For the money I can't imagine a better deal out there. However, there are a few things I would like to change. The tripod is VERY solid...IF you don't extend the lower leg sections all the way. As long as the lower leg sections are about 3-4 inches from being fully extended the tripod is rock solid, but if they are fully extended there is quite a bit of rotational play in the tripod. The video head is decent...but again we are talking about value. Are there better heads out there? Sure. But you are talking about a package here with the legs and the head for cheaper than the price of a better head alone. The zoom control works very well. I am using it with a Canon HF G30 and it is flawless. It is very easy to get those nice slow push in and out. My only criticism is how bulky it is in the way it attaches. Because of this it limits how nicely the tripod folds up. All in all this is a good package and a great value. I would recommend it for a starter kit or for those who are looking for a budget friendly package with a fluid head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tripod/controller for the price We use this for shooting live events with a Canon XA10 camcorder. It is easy to set up, the controller works almost as well as a much more expensive one. For the money, it can't be beat.
