Gitzo Mountaineer GT0532 Overview

The GT0532 Mountaineer Series 0 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Gitzo features Carbon eXact tubing, which includes High Modulus carbon fiber in the lower leg sections, adding to their diameters, and making the tripod more rigid and stronger than its predecessor. The GT0532 has a load capacity of 26.5 lb, extends to a maximum height of 52", and folds down to 20.9" for transport.

The center column on the tripod can be removed for Ground Level Set, which enables the tripod to reach its lowest height of 5.9". Its three-section legs are secured with twist locks that incorporate G-lock Ultra, which has an internal O-ring to prevent dust and particles from entering the leg system. The top spider has been redesigned to add rigidity, and large leg angle selectors give you more area to grip when readjusting leg angles. A ballast hook on the center column allows you to add weight to increase the tripod's stability.

I haven't purchased a Gitzo in many years and when I received this new one, I enjoyed seeing the new features: easier to pull the tab out to fold the legs out and the auto return to their resting position-great! Good fit and finish as always

perfect for travel and backpacking

I bought this tripod because I needed a small, sturdy, lightweight tripod that I could fit into a suitcase. My workhorse tripod is a G1345 that's just not suited for travel. The GT0532 will now be my go-to unit for all needs, except when I'm using my 500mm tele. I'm delighted with this unit.

How is Max Height measured? With center column fully extended? Half extended? Thank you.

The Specifications tab on our website for the Gitzo GT0532 Mountaineer Series 0 Carbon Fiber Tripod states that the maximum working height without the center column raised is 42.5" (108 cm), and the maximum working height (with the center column fully raised) is 52" (132.1 cm).

question

Are there threads in the feet to so that spiked feet may be installed?
Asked by: Lucas C.
Found this out too, I removed the caps and used JB weld to mount the spikes, absolutely NO regrets having done this. First remove caps, then the legs from the rest of the tripod. Clean inside with acetone. Prepare the epoxy of your choice. TIP - find a good place to stand them as upright as possible with the spike down until the epoxy sets, The less you fiddle with it the better. Good Luck!
