Canon RC-V100 Overview

Providing not only the basic record start/stop, zoom, focus, and iris controls of standard LANC remotes, the RC-V100 Remote Controller from Canon features much of the functionality found on broadcast CCU remotes. Controls you will find include full access to the menu, gain and shutter speed, white balance adjustment, image control, pedestal and master black, and more. In addition to dedicated controls, two assignable buttons allow the user to program in frequently called up settings.

The buttons are back-illuminated, and can provide audible feedback to confirm a setting change has been successfully executed. It is possible to define the directionality of rotaries, disable audible alerts, and apply other customizations via an array of dip switches. The remote powers from the host camera so that no separate battery is required, and a 15' connection cable is included. There is a USB port for firmware updates so that new functions and support for new camera models can be added.

Note: Please change your camera's Remote setting (via the menu) from "Standard" to "RC-V100" to enable use with this controller.

question

will this work with the Canon C700?
Asked by: Anonymous
We have not seen any information that this control unit will work with the C700. At this time only the Canon OU-700 Remote Operation Unit is expected to operate in that manner.

Will this work with the C70? What functions, if any, cannot be controlled on that camera?
Asked by: Robert
It works with the C70 but not to the same degree that it works with the C500 MKII. The Zoom functions work well on both cameras via the RC-V100. I'm trying to figure out a way to hang it from the camera in a run and gun type scenario. One can use Velcro to attach it to a v or gold mount battery but not sure how that would work on run and gun, starts to get a bit heavy and probably not too convenient unless one used both the V100 and the C10 hand grip.

question

What is the max distance you can control this unit off of LANC? (ie- what if I were to purchase (2) 100' LANC extension for this unit)
Asked by: Jeff E.
At this time, we can only recommend 100'. You could try 200' and see if it works. As always the issue with copper wire is signal loss.

Asked by: Glen
According to Canon, it is a 3.5mm TRS stereo connector cable. Here is one of that type that we sell.

question

What is the maximum cable length for this remote?
Asked by: Peter Z.
The Canon RR-100 8-pin cables are available in 10m or 100m lengths. The Canon website says these cables will work with the remote and a camera with "Remote B" style connector.
