Blackmagic Design DeckLink SDI Overview

The Decklink SDI 4K Capture & Playback Card from Blackmagic Design features a single multi-rate SDI input and multi-rate SDI output. These multi-rate connections accept single-link SD, HD, 3G, and 6G-SDI signals, providing support for resolutions from SD to Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) and DCI 4K (4096 x 2160). Decklink SDI 4K offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with compressed video formats such as ProRes and DNxHD as well as 10-bit uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. Decklink SDI 4K is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux based workstations with downloadable software.

question

Is this card capable of realtime hardware based downconversion from 4k to HD 1080 for monitoring ?
Asked by: Nigel
I'm afraid not. Hardware cross conversion during playback is limited to 1080p to 720p and 720p to 1080p. It will not down convert 4k to HD in real time.

question

Is it possible to apply a LUT to the footage, via this device, for a live stream? Or is there separate software/hardware required? I'm using a Blackmagic Production 4K camera.
Asked by: Anonymous
We suggest this AJA LUT-box B&H # AJLUTBOX. This will take the signal from the Blackmagic Camera, and apply the LUT. From there you can stream it.

Will this card fit in a slim desktop machine? Like the Business class HP Elitedesk 705?
Asked by: Noah
It will not fit in an EliteDesk 705 mini. You need a PCI bay to fit it. The Elite Desk 705 Small Form should work. Be sure the CPU specs will work too.
