    The head part works great. Manfrotto collapsible backgrounds with the metal band, latch on and hold tight. A really great design, I love that part of it. The carrying case is sweet, very nicely made. The not so great part, the light stand, it is flimsy and pretty cheap. The idea behind this kit is to support 5' x 7' backgrounds (monsters), well actually suspend those backgrounds. A far beefier stand would work better. The stand sort of works.

    Out of the box I was extremely sceptical but still decided to give it a go. It is very poorly built using very light materials unlike any of the Manfrotto tripod stands I have ever used. When assembled it limbers and is not sturdy at all. Wish I had used it earlier so I could have returned it in time.

    What are the measurements of the base width/circumference when open?

    The stands footprint, when opened to its maximum width, forms an equilateral triangle. The length, by my measurements, of each side of that triangle (the distance between any two adjacent legs) is 41 inches. If you measure the distance from the midpoint of one side of that triangle to the apex formed by the other two, by my measurements, is 36 inches. The radius from the center of the stand to the tip of one leg is approximately 24 inches. I hope this helps.

    Unfortunately, the blue fabric bag included in the Lastolite Magnetic Background Support Kit, B&H # LALB1121, is not listed as available as a separate accessory. You would have to contact Lastolite/Manfrotto to see if they offer a replacement bag as a accessory. However, if you are looking for a similar-sized option we carry that may work for your usage needs, I would recommend the Lightware C6140 Medium Stand Sack, B&H # LIC6140, the Manfrotto LBAG90 Quick Stack Light Stand Bag, (Small) B&H # MALBAG90, or the Davis & Sanford Tribag Padded Tripod Case - for Davis & Sanford Tripods up to 36" Long, B&H # DATC, for your usage needs.
