Matthews The Slider Stand Reviews

Solid stand

Superb quality and very solid which is excellent for our dolly shoots. Would be great if it could go just a little lower but otherwise awesome. Would get the wheels but that will make it even higher which works against our needs.

Yet another terrific product by Matthews. I had looked at other slider stands and glad I chose Matthews - these are built like tanks, have the level legs and hold the 4' and 8' poles with zero movement.

Versatile, Stable and Compact

I don't own a slider, although I may purchase a Dana Dolly or similar in the future. I purchased this stand because it's versatile, stable, and compact when collapsed. I also purchased a 1 1/8 to 5/8 adapter and a 1 1/8 to 3/8 adapter. The stand has a wide footprint and can take caster wheels. For me, the height range (24 to 46) has many uses. I'll use it to support lights, light modifiers, a computer, and in some cases as a camera support. Very happy with the build quality.

Built Like a Tank

These are the best slider stands you can buy. Matthews is obviously a trusted brand and for good reason - their stands will last past your lifetime. These slider stands are rock solid - you will not have any issues with even micro movements or jitters. They also have two Rocky Mountain arms so they are fine to put down pretty much in any uneven situation. The only con if I had to be picky is they are pretty beefy and finding ways to transport several without a cart is tricky. Many average light stand bags would probably only fit one or maybe two if the bag is meant for longer stands. What’s nice is, you don’t need to worry about throwing these in the back of a truck or loose on a cart - they’ll take a beating just fine.

Great quality slider stand

Excellent quality. Very stable when used with our Kessler Shuttle Dolly. The stand also folds up into a very compact size. We also bough the wheels, which while insanely expensive, make it much easier to move the dolly around, and don't seem make it any less stable.

Could you use just one of these stands to support a smaller portable slider, like a 3' Kessler Cineslider? I know you can use a single tripod for that slider so I was curious if I could get away with a single stand.
Asked by: Conor
We do not recommend this for use as a single stand for a slider.

question

I want to use these slider stands with a Dana Dolly (dolly currently in my B&H cart) but I can't find the right size receiver posts that will work with these stands. Do you have to buy an adapter to make that work?
Asked by: Tom
It depends on the track/Dana Dolly you are using but the standard adapter to attach it to that stand is this http://bhpho.to/1wRTK1d.

Are these just as supportive as the Dana Dolly stands by American Grip?
Asked by: Harrison
The Slider Stand offers more stable support than the Dana Dolly Stand. It has wider footprint as well as a lower minimum height. It also offers a standard Junior receiver so that the stand can be used for many other purposes than solely a slider making it much more versatile option.
