SLIK Sprint 150 Tripod with SBH-150DQ Ball He... Overview

The Sprint 150 Aluminum Tripod with SBH-150DQ Ball Head from Slik is a compact camera support that can hold up to 4.5 lb and weighs just 2.3 lb. It extends from a minimum height of 7.4" to a maximum height of 64", and folds down to 19.9" for storage and transport.

The tripod's four-section legs are individually adjustable and are secured by easy-to-use flip locks. Each leg has a foam grip for added comfort, and rubber feet for securely resting on adverse surfaces both in the studio and the field. A split center column allows the tripod to reach its minimum height of 7.4" with the legs spread to their widest position.

The ball head features a single lock design which controls the movement of the ball and the 360° pan simultaneously. The head features a 3/8"-16 female threaded mount on the bottom, with a 1/4"-20 bushing adapter to fit the tripod's base plate. The ball head utilizes a quick release plate with a 1/4"-20 male threaded screw for attaching it to your camera and includes a carrying case to protect your tripod during travel.

OK for Small Light Cameras

This may be adequate for smaller lightweight cameras but for standard, interchangeable lens cameras it is much too flimsy and the ball head will drift with anything heavier.

Used it a few times and ready to get rid of it. Would not recommend.

All aluminum tripods are aluminum alloy. The diameter of the bottom leg is 10mm. Both the head and center column are removable, and the center column is reversible.

With a camera mounted and the ball head locked into a vertical position, will it REALLY hold the camera in position or is there a danger of failure or breaking the ball head?
Asked by: Mike
Yes, this will hold a camera with a lens in the weight limited listed which is 4.5 LB. I would not go over 3 LB just to be careful.

The screw connection on the tripod is fairly standard. The ball head is really convenient for fixed shooting, but I don't find it convenient for taking video.

Do the legs on this tripod lock in the closed position? I don't mean extending them, I mean at the pivot point. Do they lock closed or can they be swung to open without pressing the release?
Asked by: Tim
The legs will open to a standard tripod width as shown in the photo but if you want them open further, like to lay it flatter?, you have to flip the release. I have never needed to do that, so can't comment on how it works..
