ViewZ VZ-240PM-PL overview

  • 1Description

The VZ-240PM-PL 24" 3G-SDI, 3D LUT & 10-Bit Video Production Monitor from ViewZ allows you to monitor SDI, HDMI, DVI, and analog video signals on a 1920 x 1200 resolution display. Two SDI connectors are provided, capable of handling SD, HD, and 3G-SDI signals with support for YCbCR or RGB 4:4:4 10/12-bit video up to 1080/60p. It also supports 2K (2048 x 1080) YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit signals at 23.98/24p and 23.98/24PsF. Additional video inputs include composite, component, and S-video on BNC connectors, as well as one HDMI and one DVI input.

The monitor features a native 10-bit panel, displaying 1.07 billion colors. You can choose to view your footage using the native color space of the monitor, or use the built-in 3D LUT cube to choose from pre-set color spaces included BT.709, SMPTE-C, EBU3213, DCI-3P, and Adobe Wide-Gamut RGB. Monitoring your footage on the same color space as your delivery format lets you accurate see how your finished project will look. The 3D LUT cube allows for gamut, gamma, and color temperature adjustments, for fine tuning your calibration.

An active loop through 3G/HD/SD-SDI output is available for sending video signals to additional monitors. A signal converter integrated into the monitor allows for SDI to HDMI conversions, with full support for 1080p60 signals on the HDMI output with test and measurement overlays. Professional overlays include waveform, vector scope, and selectable Y/R/G/B histogram. Other professional monitoring features including DSLR scaling, false color, 1:1 pixel mapping, and aspect ratio format markers. The convert also has an Under Monitor Display function which displays ancillary data at the foot of the screen.

Settings can be controlled using the buttons and jog dial on the front of the monitor, or remotely via RJ-45. A RS-422 input/output allows for daisy chaining and control from other ViewZ monitors. The monitor provides a 12 to 24 VDC 4-pin XLR input and a 110 to 240 VAC 50/60 Hz plug input as standard power options.

    ViewZ VZ-240PM-PL reviews

    VZ-240PM-PL 24" 3G-SDI, 3D LUT & 10-Bit Video Production Monitor is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice Try I bought this monitor to use with my Panasonic HS400 switcher. I ran my Sony EX3 camera through the switcher and into the monitor and first impressions were good. Sharp image, good color rendition and nice menu setup. However when I panned the camera I noticed the image blurred and jittered. I went through the settings and all were good. I changed the camera from 1080p30 to 60i and while it was slightly improved it was still unacceptable. I sent a video of the problem to ViewZ technical support and they acknowledged that it the motion was blurred. He told me that most broadcast used 60i but many times in a corporate setting we use 30p. I will be returning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Video Display / Affordable and trusty I run two postproduction studios in Los Angeles and Huntington Beach CA. We work in Nationwide Advertising campaigns. We have one studio setup with the much pricier Flanders Scientific displays, the other with these ViewZ VZ-240PM displays. There is no apparent difference in the displays other than the higher price of the Flanders. Will stick to these for the foreseeable future.
