JBL EON610 Overview

  • 1Description

The JBL EON610 is a two-way 1000W peak Class-D amplifier driven live sound reinforcement speaker that combines a wave-guided high-frequency driver with a 10" woofer in a bass-reflex cabinet. The speaker was designed from the ground up by JBL engineers to leverage the latest advancements in cabinet materials, acoustic science, transducer design, and integrated Bluetooth controllable DSP.

The combination of the 300W peak powered wave-guided high-frequency transducer and the 700W peak powered 10" woofer with bass-reflex ports delivers a frequency range of 52 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB and a frequency response of 60 Hz to 20 kHz at +3 dB over a 110 x 60° coverage pattern with a Max SPL output of 124 dB for a wide range of applications. The coverage pattern of the Image Control Waveguide is designed to match the high frequencies, crossover point, and low frequencies to deliver a more consistent on-axis and off-axis response. This allows the speaker to sound the same to members of the audience throughout the coverage pattern.

Inputs are provided on dual combination mic or line XLR-1/4" input connectors with individual signal gain knobs and a master volume knob for the overall level. An XLR loop-thru allows you to route the signal to additional EON600 series speakers.

To enable fine tuning of the speaker in different acoustic environments, the speaker includes a built-in DSP processor with Bluetooth v.4 control through an iOS or Android app. The app provides wireless control over the speaker's 5-band parametric EQ, saving and recalling presets, and adjusting the master volume.

A push button on the back of the speaker allows you to physically switch between four different modes: Main, Monitor, Speech, and Sub for when incorporating a dedicated subwoofer. Additional controls include a button for engaging the built-in EQ, disabling the speaker's front LED indicator light, and configuring Bluetooth control.

The speaker is designed to work in a variety of configurations including on its side as a floor monitor, vertically as a floor monitor, suspended from above, placed on a tripod stand, placed on a pole mount on top of a subwoofer, or stacked on top of one another using their molded index feet.

    JBL EON610 Reviews

    EON610 - 10" Two-Way Multipurpose Self-Powered Sound Reinforcement Speaker is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our second JBL EON610 well title says it all, had one, it is great, so bought second one. What greatly helped in decision to buy second one was the fact that B&H had it on sale for $269. Our first one we paid $350, retail is $400. Review: if you clearly understand features of this speaker, you cant be disaponted. Great sound, rugged body, relatively small size, etc. Of course it cannot compare with base sound of EON15 (our friend has one), that speaker fills room like you have subwoofer hidden somewhere in the corner. EON610 doesnt have that capability, but what it has is a great ballanced sound perfectly filling room. And dont get me wrong here, it has a punch, no doubt about it. It deserves 5 stars. We love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Sound, Good Quality Used this product with a set of Shure Lavalier mics for a 2 day presentation. Sound was great. Easy to setup. Had two microphones attached. This speaker provided for individual volume control which made it convenient since all presenters had varying speech volume. Good product. Has bluetooth feature but not for streaming music, only controls.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sounds good for the price except for loose harness inside I like JBL. I have owned a set of JBL 8-inch studio monitors and my current JBL EON 10 PA speakers are at least 10 years old. Both products served reasonable well. However these EON610s are different story. I bought (and am returning) two new EON610s to replace my existing JBL EONS. When I took the first 610 speaker out of the box, I heard a thumping noise from inside. I shook the speaker and it sounded like someone had bundled a power cord and threw it inside the speaker. It seemed to be banging from side to side. I though a component was loose. Given speakers should not have loose parts banging around inside (never heard of that in 40 years of audio and music experience), I said the speaker must be defective. I opened the second speaker. It also sounded like a power cord was banging around inside. I immediately called JBL technical support. I was told that the sound was a cable harness that was not tied down. (That is exactly what is sounded like.) I was also told it would not be a problem. I can't believe JBL is letting speakers out the door in this condition. FUNDAMENTAL to any electrical design--especially speakers--is tying all electrical wiring down. There are many potential problems here including the wiring harness flexing at connection points and breaking wires, or pulling wires from terminals, or having the harness damage the speaker cone. What about aesthetics? How good can I feel about spending money on a speaker and hearing it thump around every time I move it. When I play low frequencies softly, am I going to hear it buzz? The EON610 speakers sounded very good compared to my 10-year-old EONS and they were very loud. The hardware controls are great but I don't need wireless control for deep editing of EQ from my cell phone. I am in the process of returning the speakers and the bags back (thanks B&H). I decided to spend twice as much and purchase higher-end speakers from another maker. The EON610s sound very good (but consumery) for the money. An AB comparison with my upgraded speakers suggested you get what you pay for. The new speakers are a whole step up in sound quality from the JBLs. Now I will be proud about my gear and my ears will be happy every day for the next ten years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Malfunctioned after 3 gigs I purchased two EON610's in April, 2016. We perform at festivals on a regular basis, but do have to set up sound occasionally for local gigs. I used this speaker as a monitor 3 times. It was adequate for the price. I plugged it in yesterday for a gig today and it sounded like a plane taking off. To get warranty work done, I have to drive 220 miles or pay for shipping. there. It is not worth saving money on a product that has this reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Speakers for the Price I purchased these speakers to use for my companies award ceremony twice a year as well as an assortment of other professional events. The speakers have sounded great from day one and I've never had any issue with them. The best part about these speakers is that a presenter can stand right next to them and there is no feedback. I've tested these while standing next to them and had to yell in order to get feedback. This was a great buy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Build Quality I purchased 2 of these. I wanted a small system that had 1000 watts. I've used JBL passive speaker in the past and was please with the quality of construction and sound. These new EON speaker sounded fine but I noticed a glue blimish, like a glob that was left on the finish and removed taking the finish off with it. I could have lived with that, but I noticed that when I picked up the other speaker, there was a rattle in the cabinet, like something was loose... I checked the other cabinet and sure enough there was also a rattle, not quite as bad as the other speaker, but something was loose inside! The quality of construction is very poor. They also had a Blue Tooth feature where you could control the EQ for music, speech etc. It's totally useless since you set them up and you can change it using the buttons. Who would stand several feet away and adjust it with a smart phone? Total waste. I'd rather they put the effort into building a solid cabinet. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! This was easy to install, works great and the people at JBL are a real pleasure to work with. I had a question and called tech support. They not only answered the question, but took a unit off the shelf and tested it to be sure they were accurate! As an installer, this was great assurance. Very professional! Thanks Guys!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No Bluetooth I bought this speaker for my classroom. You can control the speaker with a Bluetooth app similar to a remote control but you can not use Bluetooth connection to play things through the speaker.
