Olympus LH-76 overview

  • 1Description

Designed for the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens, the Olympus LH-76 Lens Hood will deflect stray light and protect the front of the lens during use. A locking mechanism allows the hood to slide down and out of the way when not in use or when lens is stored. This means the hood can remain permanently fixed to the lens without becoming an obstacle. This hood is available as a replacement or spare for the one included with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens.

    Olympus LH-76 reviews

LH-76 Lens Hood for 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from So poorly glued Great lens hood. Too bad Olympus was cheap in gluing the last outer ring. The glue of my original lens hood loosened up and the outer ring came off. Once that done, there is no going back. PIECES FLY OUT OF THE BOX. I bought into the olympus MFT system a little too blindly. All the fancy lens caps are great but poorly glued. Same deal with the lens hood of the 12-40 f/2.8 lens cap. The glue came off and everything came out flying. Nikon and Canon got things right: basic plastic. For the price of the lens or the lens hood BTW, the same happens to lens caps. The decorative rings come off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nifty sliding but fragile Considering that the lens hood is included when you buy the lens, the folks who buy this have either lost or broken the original. Can't say I have anything too nice to say about this, but I feel like the nifty sliding mechanism is a little fragile and sad to say doesn't last. Why not just have a regular reversible lens hood that is probably a little more durable?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oly Replaced Mine for Free Not to cost B&H sales, but when my lens hood failed, I reached out to Oly and they opted to replace my lens hood for free pending I ship them my faulty one. So, while the parts may come undone, it may be worth reaching out to Olympus first before buying a replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorest product I have had from Olympus I have had to replace the lens hood four times. It is apparently glued poorly, and it falls apart without having contact with anything or being dropped. I have not choice except to replace it. I have six Olympus lenses for the Mark 2, and I am very disappointed that the company has not fixed the problem, which has existed since the lens was initially sold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second one broke I just had a second one break on me and I have only owned the lens for just over three months. I like the idea of the design the way the hood slides back on the lens, but I will now be replacing it with a standard screw-in type hood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Breaks easily Lens hood literally fell apart with minimal use. Not impressed with Olympus at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy! Very handy lens hood because it is quick to slide it into place and then slide back over the lens barrel. Because it stows out of the way you always have it handy. Dinged it 1 star because I had one break - it could be stronger. Even so, this is a worthwhile device.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poorly constructed Works fine when it works, but, like many others, I found mine in pieces less than two months after I bought the lens. Just not very robustly engineered. The mounting ring is prone to falling apart.
