Nikon 16001 overview

  • 1Description

Nikon's black 10x30 ProStaff 7S Binocular combines optical performance with lightweight rugged construction details to create a versatile optic that can be used at the stadium, in the woods, or on the boat.

The ProStaff's moderate-size objective lenses place it just above a compact model, offering the performance of a full-sized optic without excessive weight or bulk—making it convenient to pack and carry for an array of observing needs. Its environmentally friendly lead- and arsenic-free Eco-glass is fully multi-coated to maximize light transmission and improve contrast, clarity, and color fidelity. Complementing the lenses are phase-corrected roof prisms that have been further treated with highly reflective mirror coatings to eliminate internal interference and minimize light loss. The combination of glass and optical coatings produces high-contrast views that are bright and clear, with accurate colors across the entire field of view.

This ProStaff features a strong and lightweight fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate resin body, which further makes it easy to pack and carry, and weighing in at less than a pound, you will experience less fatigue while holding it up to your eyes compared with larger models made with a metal chassis. To withstand the elements wherever you use it, the housing is O-ring sealed, allowing the binocular to be submersed to 3.3' for up to 10 minutes, and is nitrogen filled for fogproof performance. Black rubber armoring provides protection from drops and impacts, as well as a sure non-slip grip.

Optical Performance
  • High 10x power magnifies distant subjects for detailed observation
  • 30mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability compared with smaller-objective models without adding excessive bulk or weight
  • Compact roof prism design ensures slim optical tubes to help maintain a slim form factor
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission to produce bright and clear high-contrast images
  • Phase-corrected prisms eliminate internal interference in the light path to improve contrast and resolution
  • Highly reflective mirror prism coatings limit light loss to keep images bright and sharp
  • Generous 314' field of view at 1000 yards helps to minimize the appearance of visible hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics
Use and Handling
  • Closed-bridge configuration provides a solid and stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
  • Large slip center focus wheel allows for precise focus control, even while wearing gloves
  • Right eye dioptric adjustment collar helps to compensate for individual eye prescription
  • 56-72mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Twist-up/click-stop rubber eyecups for use with or without eyewear
  • 15.4mm eye relief helps to reduce eyestrain and improves viewing comfort
  • 3mm exit pupil
Construction Details
  • Environmentally friendly Eco-Glass is made without lead or arsenic
  • Lightweight and durable fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate chassis
  • Chassis material is temperature resistant, preventing the expansion and contraction that is common with metal, which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time and prevent sharp focus
  • Textured black rubber armoring protects against bumps and impacts while providing a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather
  • Textured, ergonomically placed palm pads improve grip stability and comfort
  • Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and submersible to 3.3' (1m) for up to 10 minutes and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes and environmental conditions
  • One-piece tethered ocular rainguard protects eyecups from water pooling in them from rain or spraying water when binocular is hanging from the neck
  • Objective lens caps can be clipped to neck strap to avoid losing them during observation sessions
  • Light 15-ounce weight

10x30 ProStaff 7S Binoculars (Black) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection I wanted a binocular that was light weight and compact and after some research i decided to give this Nikon a try.It was a bit risky because it's a new model and i couldn't find much review on it, however, I find it to be a very good decision.Good build, Perfect compact size with beautiful clarity. It has everything a Deer Hunter would need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Binocular Bought this binocular for wildlife viewing in time for Eagle season on the Mississippi and we are very happy with it. Lens covers a slight bother but not really a problem. Size and weight make it very portable and easy to use. We are amazed at what we can see at long distances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Birders, take note! I've got eight pairs of binoculars in the house: Celestrons, Bushnells, Nikon travel set, Canons (large and compact), but my go-to pair is this compact 10X30. Lightweight for long field use; excellent light gathering (and not bad in low light); waterproof; great price. I've purchased a pair for my wife, now she doesn't have to steal mine. Highly recommended.
