    IOGEAR GWHD11 reviews

Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Was told by a friend about this product. We live stream multi-camera performances with a video mixer and encoder products. We often want to place HD cameras around a stage, but are limited by HDMI cable positioning and lengths. Out of the box, the IOGEAR wireless HDMI trans/recvr worked flawlessly. We literally just plugged in the camera (a Sony Music MV-1) to the transmitter, turned on the receiver, and our video mixer saw the feed. One note: the transmitter is a full size HDMI connector. Make sure you have adapters to connect to a mini-HDMI or micro-HDMI port. Most HD cameras are usually one of the smaller ports.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!!! Works better than expected. Actually just plugged in the sending unit to the source and the receiving unit to the tv and it worked almost immediately. Distance about 50', sending unit is inside a cabinet with wood doors (no glass at all) and there is one thick wall between source and tv. Great product... just wish you could hook up additional receivers for other tvs to the same source, apparently it just supports one receiver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time will tell If you are connecting a laptop (New Macbook Air) to a large screen TV, I'm still trying to determine how reliable it is. It worked perfectly out of the box and was quite pleased with the ease of setup and connection. But then tried it again a few days later and it would not connect. I called IOGear technical support and they stated that it might be the Thunderbolt > HDMI dongle that is a bit unreliable. I tested it with PC laptops and it failed there as well. When I called the second time, their tech rep (manager) began blaming it on the vagaries of laptop resolution and refresh rate...blah, blah blah. If they are making a product that is advertised to work with laptops, then it should work...period. So I decided to investigate the root cause on my own- which I suspected to be the pairing may have fallen off. Tah Dah! it works. Have retested it and still connecting, but longterm reliability is yet to be determined. Stay tuned. Otherwise a very simple solution to showing your computer screen to a large screen TV (I have a Samsung)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reasonably Priced wireless Driver Free HDMI It's easy to get burned by many of these low cost wireless solutions but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I simply plugged the Transmitter into the side of my laptop and the receiver into my LCD display and after a few seconds the image appeared. The latency is imperceivable and I'm a happy wireless HDMi camper. I hope it continues to perform this way, time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, simple to use, long range Setup took 5 minutes, longer to figure out how to hide the receiver than set up the product. No drivers are required. The receiver does appear to go into sleep mode so you do need to hit the power button on the top to wake the unit up before it will display.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked out of the Box Despite concerns from other reviewers about the device loosing sync, I purchased this in order to use iPad 2s with a projection system. When transmitter and receiver were hooked up they synced on their own with no intervention from me. I'm only giving it a 4 because I think the transmitter needs some sort of autonomous power source. That would make it really portable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware! Do not buy!!! BEWARE... stay as far away from this product as you possibly can! There are a number of great reviews here, sadly they are fairly recent. I, too, would have posted a very positive review if I had only been using the product a few months. Bought this kit about 2 years ago now...and it has started to cause me grief after about 14-15 months. Now, the device is simply inoperable. The receiver/transmitter units will often fail to sync, and when/if they finally do, it lasts for a few minutes before the signal gets lost again. Google is your friend - do yourself a favor and thoroughly read the negative reviews before you buy this junk. I found a number of folks with exactly the same problem as mine, and it basically boils down to a significant design flaw which causes the transmitter unit to overheat, and with time that just eventually kills it for good. I have contacted IOGEAR about this and they are refusing to repair or replace the product since it is now out of warranty. I have even reached out to their corporate head office's legal department to challenge this - based on the facts that 1) other people are experiencing the same problem -and- 2) I feel a 15-month lifetime is not reasonable, regardless of what the official warranty text is saying (this can also be challenged legally, as there are many places where such a limited warranty has no legal standing). But in the end, no luck, I'm stuck with a dead product and the company refuses to help. To quote one of their assistant general counsel: Given the price paid, the contract, and the conditions of use for this product, we feel that one year is a reasonable lifetime. Well that's great! So by definition, everything I buy from now on, I should expect to fail right after the initial warranty period ends? And I should just be OK with that and keep on buying new stuff all the time when it breaks for no reason? Not. Note to self (and spreading the word): never buying anything from IOGEAR ever again!
