Audio-Technica ATW-1312/L Overview

The Audio-Technica ATW-1312/L System 10 PRO is a two-channel digital wireless lavalier and handheld combo microphone system featuring a half-rack ATW-RC13 receiver chassis equipped with two ATW-RU13 receiver units. It is well suited for rackmounting in portable flight cases or for permanent installations in educational facilities, conference rooms, small to mid-sized venues, and houses of worship as well as broadcast studios.

The easy-to-use system comes preconfigured at the factory, ready to operate right out of the box with no setup required. Three levels of diversity reception and automatic frequency selection provide seamless, reliable performance with clear digital audio for presenters, lecturers, clergy, and performers.

The ATW-1312/L offers a flexible solution by including a bodypack transmitter, a miniature MT830cW omnidirectional lav mic, and a handheld transmitter with an integrated hypercardioid dynamic microphone capsule. The lavalier provides a discreet hands-free mic option, while the handheld mic is ideal in situations where you don't have time to position a lavalier mic or you need to quickly pass the mic among several people. The transmitters provide up to 7 hours of continuous use with two AA batteries, at a maximum range of 200'. Up to 10 mic channels can operate simultaneously in the same space.

The receiver units can be removed from the chassis and mounted remotely (up to 328' away, connected via an Ethernet cable), for more reliable reception. Up to five chassis can be linked using RJ12 cables, creating a stable environment in which up to 10 receiver units work together, with all receiving, transmitting, and frequency allocation coordinated to prevent audio dropouts.

Clear Digital Audio with Omnidirectional Lav and Hypercardioid Handheld Mic
  • The System 10 PRO offers full-bandwidth, 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio with none of the audio artifacts associated with analog companding.
  • The low-visibility, miniature MT830cW lavalier microphone features a Hirose 4-pin locking connector and delivers a natural sound optimized for speech intelligibility. The omnidirectional polar pattern ensures that the sound remains consistent, even when the speaker's head moves away from the mic.
  • The rugged handheld transmitter features an integrated dynamic microphone capsule that delivers a natural sound optimized for speech intelligibility. The mic's hypercardioid polar pattern tightly focuses audio capture on the subject directly in front of the mic, minimizing background noise and feedback.
Easy to Set Up, Easy to Operate
Automatic Frequency Selection
  • Just power up the components, and the receiver automatically seeks out a clean frequency and pairs up with the transmitter, saving you the hassle of scanning and syncing.
  • While in use, the system continually monitors activity in the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi range and automatically switches to a clean frequency to avoid interference if necessary.

Rugged Receiver Chassis

  • The durable half-rack receiver chassis houses both receiver units and can be mounted alone using the included mounting brackets and screws. Two chassis can be mounted side-by-side using the included joining plate, allowing four wireless mic channels to occupy a single 19" rackspace for a compact multichannel installation.
  • The chassis' front-panel display provides visual status information including RF signal level and the transmitter's battery life, along with a 3-color audio-level LED and a Pair LED.
  • A System ID number display indicates which transmitter is associated with a given receiver.
  • Rear-panel connections include balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" output connections as well as output level controls and ground-lift switchs to help eliminate audible hum caused by ground loops.

Two Versatile Receiver Units

  • Each receiver unit features two removable antennas.
  • A 1/4"-20 thread allows for mounting each unit to a bracket, stand, and other fixture. The units can also be permanently wall mounted using the included receiver unit holders.

Lightweight Bodypack and Handheld Transmitters

  • Both the bodypack and handheld transmitters are housed in lightweight, plastic chassis—the bodypack is equipped with a Hirose 4-pin locking connector and belt clip.
  • Internal input trim controls can be set to match the sensitivity of your microphone or audio source for distortion-free input.
  • With just a quick press, the transmitters' power switches double as mute functions. These can be locked out to prevent accidents.

Pairing Multiple Transmitters

  • Up to 10 transmitters can be paired with a receiver ahead of time. This is useful in situations when you have multiple speakers, one after another, and you need to have them miked up and ready to go. All you'll have to do is turn one transmitter off and the next one on.
Three Levels of Diversity Assurance to Avoid Dropouts
Triple Diversity Reception Maximizes Wireless Signal Integrity

  • Space Diversity: The receiver compares the signal showing up at its two antennas and chooses the strongest one.
  • Time Diversity: The transmitter sends the digital signal in two imperceptibly different time slots and compares the two.
  • Frequency Diversity: The digital audio is sent over two different frequencies at the same time and the system chooses the cleaner one.

For optimal performance, users are encouraged to maintain as direct a line of sight as possible between the transmitter and receiver.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Band

  • Unlike traditional analog wireless systems, the System 10 PRO operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, away from interruptions and dropouts caused by TV and radio channel interference.
Add Functionality to Your System
Audio-Technica offers a variety of microphone and cable options to adapt your System 10 PRO as your needs evolve.

Presenters

  • The discrete PRO-92cW earset mic provides improved clarity in spoken word applications.

Video Conferencing

  • The ATW-T1006 boundary transmitter/mic is designed for tabletop use, ideal for applications such as video-conferencing where minimum visibility is required.

Conferences/Boardrooms

  • The ATW-T1007 base transmitter can be used with a gooseneck mic on a table for situations where wired mics are impractical.

Guitarists

  • The AT-GcW guitar cable lets you connect the bodypack transmitter to a guitar or bass.

Replaced 500MHz A-T system in a church. Mics came paired already, no hassle. Mount, plug and play. Remote locating antennae using ethernet cable is easy and tidy compared to coax. Really well thought out product.

An Good Alternative to the TV Bands!

Full Disclosure - I was given this product for testing and review. First of all, I'm a AV systems designer, installer and company owner. I saw the new system two years ago at Denver AVX and expressed my doubts about it's capabilities to the company rep. Turns out he was the VP of Engineering for AT! He sent me a test unit and I sent him back some real world test data. First of all, I was sure that this would have problems and so I set it up to fail. For my first test, I did not remotely mount the RX units. Also I parked it in a sound booth with an active consumer grade WiFi router/access point. I ran two channels for the entire service multiple times, at a range of 60-80 ft. with a clear line of sight and the RF was rock solid. No dropouts, no problems. I was, quite frankly, amazed. I've lived with this unit now for two years, used it for outdoor events, vacation Bible school at my church, two Christmas productions for drama and backup mics and it has never had an issue. I only have a couple minor complaints. The handheld mic does have some handling noise, so that could be improved and once when I blew a circuit breaker at an outdoor event (hey, it happens) I had to re-sync the handheld to the transmitter before the system would work again. I definitely recommend using rechargeable AA's since they use batteries faster than analog systems. However, this is to be expected considering the amount of active RF management built into these units and the fact that they are constantly encoding and sending dual streams of digital audio. In my book, this system is an excellent alternative for the TV bands! Recommended.
