    Behringer UMC404HD reviews

    U-PHORIA UMC404HD - USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Interface is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid interface it's built very solidly. Materials don't feeI cheap compared to Focusrite scarlett series interfaces. You'll need to get to Focusrite Saffire range, which is double the price for the same type of quality-feel in materials. Same preamps as X32 boards which sound very good. I own Focusrite 2i4 and in my opinion preamps in this Behringer UMC404HD sound more transparent. When used as a DAC for music playback it sounds as good as my Apogee Duet interface. This is the best interface in this price range hands down. On a Mac go to Audio MIDI set up in utilities and choose your sample rate for the interface. To my ears, music playback sounds the best at 192khz. It's very hard to tell a difference between 96khz and 192khz, but when you listen to string instruments there is more openness and presence at sample rates above 96khz.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Bang for Little Bucks For the price, this interface is remarkably good. The unit is well engineered and built considering the cost. I originally wanted to use this unit as a computer audio output(DA/level control) and possibly a MIDI interface. I'm now using ALL the features in the interface. The audio quality is surprisingly good for the price, including the pre-amps. I've used it with direct instrument connections and condenser microphones with success. The unit functions as a standalone interface without the need for an attached computer too. The only complaint I have is that a rack mount option was not available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Interface in this price range I use this interface in my home studio. Read the instructions and install the driver first if you use a PC. The interface is recognized when attached with the USB cable provided. Using it with you DAW of choice is a little more challenging. If the device does not show up in the device list check the ascio driver and ensure that you have activated the UMC404HD in that application. Save the new set up then reopen your DAW. the device should now be available to choose. The interface is very quiet and has the added feature of the inserts. I recorded my acoustic guitar and used a stomp box Martin emulator, what a difference. This one is a keeper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised When I purchased this from B&H Photo, I was expecting a decent product, but that was it...decent. I am happy to report that it is well beyond decent, and that I am quite happy with the purchase. I had heard that with lower priced interfaces you may encounter a lot of clicks and pops and noise from the pre amps. I have not experienced any of this with this product. Everything works as advertised. I am under no delusion that this is the end all, be all of audio interfaces. But if like me you are using it in a home hobby studio, then I'm sure you could do a lot worse than this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Unit This unit is very nice. It sounds good and has some nice features. All the input can be used for instruments as is without a DI box which is something other audio interfaces are lacking. The latency on my system is very low and not noticeable. The price is very reasonable. Overall I am very satisfied with this audio interface. I use this to record my band. I use an electronic drum set hooked up to the midi port. The keyboards are plugged directly in the computer. The guitar and bass go directly into this box as do 2 vocal mics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The 4.38 doesn't work in ASIO in Windows 10 I have the UMC404 and thought I would buy the UMC404 HD to upgrade the recording bitrate to 192. The first thing you will notice is there is no software or driver disk, that is where the fun begins. The newest driver on the site is 4.38 it installs but when I go into Amplitube 3,4 or TH2,3 or any Daw is doesn't show any ASIO. And the support on the site is WORTHLESS. If I use the 3.29 driver that I used for the UMC404 I got the sound to work so I thought that was good enough, so I purchased the FCB1010 midi foot controller only to find that it would not work proper with that driver. I will never buy anything of Behringer again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boat anchor? I had high hopes of being able to record four stereo tracks at once with my Samplitude Suite DAW when this thing showed up. Unfortunately, I can only get the left channel on output 1 to record and the right channel on output 2 to record; and that only one at a time. Outputs 3 and 4 do nothing via the USB but they sound nice in the headphones. It is built like a tank and the attention to detail on the case and the outside are impressive. I just wish it had 4 outputs. Perhaps I received a bad one - no one else here seems to be having my issue, though one other person on their web site forum complained about a similar problem. I'm very disappointed in it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I would give this 4/5 stars simply because of the epic fail by the company's website when it came to obtaining drivers for this product because windows 7 64 bit didn't find a driver for it. Not sure if it is a Behringer issue, windows issue, or motherboard issue...but the interface will no longer be recognized and is kinda a pain in the butt to get recognized again by windows. Other than those 2 issues it is a FANTASTIC products. 192K with 4 in and 4 out for 150, can't beat it. love having the monitos and headphones on seperate knobs.
