Creative Cloud Photography Plan

Benefits for Photographers
  • By combining both Photoshop and Lightroom within a single plan, this comprehensive solution enables photographers the controls to process raw files, organize a complete photo library, retouch imagery, and export finished photographs in a multitude of ways.
  • Residing within the Creative Cloud environment, these two programs reap the benefits of continuous feature upgrades, new and enhanced tools, up-to-date support for various camera models, and access to an expansive library of video tutorials for expanding one's skill-set.
  • Both Photoshop and Lightroom can work in conjunction with their respective mobile apps-Photoshop Mix and Lightroom Mobile-for on-the-go editing and syncing of work across all devices.
  • Cloud-based storage can be used for access to your files from nearly any device.
20GB of Cloud Storage
This version of the Creative Cloud Photography Plan includes 20GB of cloud storage for syncing your edits using multiple devices. This plan stores your original files solely on your host computer, and permits using mobile and web platforms to sync your edits once you return to editing on your host computer.

Photoshop CC

Unique Features for Photoshop
  • Perspective Warp allows you to adjust the perspective of a portion of your image without affecting other regions of the photo. This is ideal for changing the camera's viewpoint, such as changing a telephoto shot into a wide-angle perspective, and for compositing images together despite having different vanishing points or camera positions.
  • Blur Gallery motion effects can be applied in circular, elliptical, and path-shaped blurs in order to create a sense of motion within your image.
  • Smart Sharpen allows you to add rich texture, define edges, and draw out greater detail. This updated tool analyzes specific portions of the image in order to maximize clarity and minimize noise and halos in order to produce natural results that can be fine-tune to your preference.
  • Camera Shake Reduction helps to rescue photos that might otherwise be lost due to unwanted blur caused by slow shutter speeds or longer focal lengths. This function analyzes the trajectory of the shot and helps to restore sharpness across the frame.
  • The Focus Mask feature automatically selects regions of an image that are in focus and helps you to build precise and natural masks that can be used for enhancing the look of selective focus and shallow depth of field imagery.
  • Enhanced Content-Aware technology offers more seamless and realistic retouching control when using the content-aware fill, move, and patch tools. This technology cleanly blends areas containing gradients, such as skies, for more natural results.
  • The free Photoshop Mix app can be used on your iPad for powerful and easy-to-use editing control on-the-go. This app lets you combine and cut out imagery, apply distinct looks, and make non-destructive edits to photographs. When used in conjunction with the Creative Cloud membership, this app is compatible with Photoshop CC for a mobile-connected and synced workflow.

Lightroom CC

Unique Features for Lightroom
  • Includes both Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC: Lightroom CC is an updated version designed for a cloud-based editing workflow, with automatic backups and editing syncing. Lightroom Classic CC is the desktop-focused version, which is designed for use with local, desktop-based file storage.
  • When used in conjunction with a Creative Cloud membership, Lightroom can be used on your computer as well as your mobile devices, with the ability to sync your work between the various mediums for real-time editing. On smartphones and tablets, you can enhance all of your imagery, including photos made with a mobile device or raw files from a DSLR, and share directly to social media sites.
  • HDR Merge is a seamless means for compositing multiple exposures within a single frame in order to achieve an extended dynamic range with greater shadow and highlight detail. This tool helps to align sequentially recorded frames and average the exposure values from each to produce natural or surreal effects.
  • Panorama Merge aids in stitching together several files, including raw images, in order to create wide field of view panoramas. This tool helps to maintain a high degree of detail and prevent unwanted distortions and gaps or overlaps between frames.
  • Facial Recognition is a unique solution for sourcing photos of specific people without the use of metadata, tags, or keywords. By selecting one face from a photo, Lightroom can search for images of that same person throughout your library for categorizing and grouping.
  • The Advanced Healing Brush can be used to quickly fix image defects, such as dust or spots, as well as cleanly remove any unwanted objects within the photo. Updated control allows you to quickly remove oddly-shaped items, such as threads or splotches, without affecting the main subjects of an image.
  • Upright allows you to straighten tilted images with a single click by analyzing and detecting skewed horizontal and vertical lines. This function works even when the horizon line is obscured or hidden.
  • Smart Previews permits working with your imagery without having to bring your entire image library with you. By generating smaller, more portable stand-in files of your full-size imagery, you can apply adjustments and update metadata and then automatically apply these edits to the larger originals at a later time.
  • A dedicated Filter Brush offers more precise control as to which areas of your image are affected when using Graduated or Radial filters. The brush can be used to adjust the filter's mask and add or subtract the effects from specific portions of the frame.
  • Still images, video clips, and music can all be combined within video slideshows, which can be viewed on nearly any device, including computers, smartphones, or tablets.
  • For sharing your work online, HTML5-compatible web galleries can be created to showcase your photos in a more elegant and interactive way that are compatible with most desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Lightroom is based within a non-destructive editing environment that lets you experiment and adjust imagery without the fear of accidentally altering your original files. This makes it easier to reverse any unwanted edits or save multiple versions of the same image.

Adobe Photography Plan reviews

Creative Cloud Photography Plan with 20GB Cloud Storage (12 Month Subscription, Download) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 261.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Adobe CC Photo Plan - A Necessary Evil I was an early adopter (aka sucker) of Creative Cloud but as the rates rose, I no longer could justify the expense, so I cancelled and tried weaning myself from Adobe products. Alternatives exist but Photoshop and Lightroom were simply too embedded in my process that I had to surrender. The Creative Cloud interface is clunky to begin with but for this user who had a Creative Cloud account, cancelled and then re-upped via the CC photo package, it's maddening. For Mac users, there's some problem (nothing new) in the interface between CC and OS X, particularly Keychain. Don't rely on Keychain to get you logged in - there's absolutely no consistency. As titled - a necessary evil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, Great way to purchase Adobe CC Great to just pre-pay for a years worth of great software using this product from BH. Do note that if you're an existing subscriber, you will have to chat with adobe to cancel your existing membership. It will be up to that support person about whether or not you'll get charged a cancellation fee - in my case, the support person just ended my subscription and had it expire at the end of the month for no cost. I was then able to add this subscription code into my existing account and take advantage of a slight discount from BH and not having to see a monthly bill for a few months with no disruption of service. Sweet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No choice but to pay protection money.... Great software but I resent being compelled to send money to Adobe indefinitely and yet not have ownership of the software. Both of my new cameras are not supported by CS6, so I was compelled to buy Abode CC. However, I am actively watching the development of other raw processing software that does NOT require rental. The updates since CS6 are minimal. All the rental fees they have collected in the years since CC was announced seem to be going to their bottom line, not continued and faster improvements as promised. And certainly not to improved customer support! If you quit paying you loose access to the software and all the money spent is lost.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A lot to pay for a few extra features I used LR 5.7 for several years and Photoshop Elements occasionally. I mostly wanted to upgrade to get Photoshop CC full with the patch tool and other 'smart' functions, as well as the dehazer in LR CC. Initially LR CC ran painfully slow in Windows 10 but some google research on cache size has solved much of that. I obviously did not do enough research as I expected the added benefit of the CC advertising editing from anywhere included significant cloud storage (I get unlimited storage of non-raw files inexpensively on Smugmug so it didn't seem far fetched to assume I'd get more than 2GB in Adobe CC!) Imagine my shock when I ran out of storage uploading one long photography trip's worth of files. Very frustrating. For a professional for whom $120 per year for the added features is just a cost of doing business, CC is fine, but for most amateurs the standalone older products in LR and PS should do most of what they need and there are plug ins and alternatively cheaper apps that do many of the other processes CC offers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not crazy about the subscription I would've much preferred buying Lightroom as a standalone but the creative cloud version is more feature rich. Lightroom is perfect for me as an amateur/enthusiast photographer that is more interested in taking pics than processing them. I've always been turned off by the complexity of Photoshop but adjustments in Lightroom are easy and incredibly effective. If I had a use for Photoshop the cloud subscription would be well worth it, instead I feel I'm forced into this product to get features like the dehaze slider. All in all Lightroom is incredible and makes this still worthy of 4 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Download process sucks Photoshop is Photoshop. It's a great but complicated program. I don't like buying a subscription vs a product. Download process was painfully slow. Even though I had already paid, I was forced to give my CC number for next year. The download process added a supid menu item to the top menu bar (Mac). It is a list with links of all the other programs Adobe would like me to buy. Perhaps there's a way to get rid of it, but I haven't figured that out. Several comments say you can download a copy to a second computer, but haven't figured that out either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lightroom is much slower than my older standalone version I upgraded from LR 5.7 hoping for at least slightly better/faster Lightroom experience but it's much slower than my old version (I had to turn off GPU usage). I don't know what Adobe is doing but this is not worth the upgrade or money. Besides speed, it still misses some basic functions which would make photographer's workflow easier and which many users required on their forums. (Adobe knows what those are). Photoshop I haven't tried yet, only basic panorama stitching function, but it seems ok. They didn't tamper much with the user interface which is good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy, but not so enthusiastic about subscription model The software is good and the combination of Lightroom and Photoshop is powerful. The last version of Photoshop I bought was 5.5. I never used Lightroom before, but it seems to have grown up since its first iterations. Definitely a better tool to manage photos than Adobe Bridge. I'm not over the moon with the subscription model, although it's true that the software is kept up to date. Then again I had Photoshop 5.5 for years without feeling the need to update and that worked just fine. Lightroom is what convinced me though. Haven't owned it long enough to know whether the subscription model is worth it for the supposed new features you get once in a while.
