Sure this backup camera is on the pricey side compared to other similar products, however if you already have a compatible Garmin device, it eliminates the need of a second screen. What I can say you're getting for the few extra bucks is quality and reliability. The device is crystal clear and works exactly as it should. If you have very basic electrical skills, its a very easy installation. Very pleased with this purchase.

Works Good

It pairs up nicely with a Garmin DriveSmart 61LMT-S. Only 4 stars because the video is not HD and somewhat pixelated. But....it does what I want it to do, gives me a clear picture of what is behind me. I would buy it again.

Installed in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler (2 door) using a mount that attaches to the spare tire holder (from Quadratec). Got the power for the camera by tapping into the backup light on the passenger side. There is about a 1 or 2 second delay when shifting into reverse before the image is displayed on the Garmin GPS (DriveSmart 51 LMT-S) on a windshield suction mount.

Bought my first cam on Ebay but it didn't have the antenna cable so I ordered from B&H to get power antenna and finally hook both cameras up to the back of my RV works awesome. Would like to get better zoom as they are mounted high on the trailer but so far so good.

The package had everything I needed.  The hook up was easy.  Picture quality is clear. Refresh rate is good. Cons - Garmin instructions have you waterproofing places that should have been taken care at manufacturing. I was hesitant to purchase this item based on reviews.  I am not extremely happy that I made the decision.

Image to dark and no brightness adjustment.

Works well, but image is to dark in bright light. No adjustment available to brighten it. You can get a false sense of security when you glance at the screen and dont clearly see anything that might be behind you. A lot of work to put it in. Most useful on a dark rainy night where you can see things behind you that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Garmin Backup Camera Review

Installing this camera wasn't as easy as Garmin claims. Had trouble routing the cables through the license plate area and through the tail light housing. Camera gives fisheye view and image is really small compared to other backup cameras. It is over priced for what it does. Other than that it does work OK.

Big help

Many minor accidents occur during backing operations. This device won't eliminate the problem, but it offers some assistance. Connected with the GPS it is proving to be very convenient.

question

Will this product work on the back of a 38' 5th wheel travel trailer towed behind a super cab pickup? It would not have an unobstructed line of site but would be right at the 45' distance from the front seat of the cab.
Asked by: Anonymous
I would think this should work, but you will need to do one of the following. I assume you are using with a garmin rv760lmt or similar. You can either activate the camera by running a wire to the backup lights or adding a switch to turn it on when you want to backup. Does the 5th wheel have backup lights connected to the truck. I don't think the distance should be an issue and it is not so much a line of site issue as positioning the receiver for the camera an attaching it securely. In you case I probably would keep all the receiving wire under the 5th wheel. You probl could splice the wires if you need to get it closer to the truck also. Hope that helps.
