Built for gaming at high resolutions, the ASUS Strix Radeon R9 390X Gaming Graphics Card features 8GB of GDDR5 vRAM for loading large textures and graphics coupled to 2816 Stream Processors running at a base speed of 1070 MHz with a 512-bit memory bus and a 384 GB/s bandwidth. Not only for gaming, the R9 390X GPU is based on AMD's GCN architecture and supports APIs such as OpenCL and OpenGL. These APIs can take advantage of the GPU's 2816 Stream Processors to accelerate parallel computing tasks, taking some of the processing load off of the CPU.
The output panel of this card features one DVI-D output, an HDMI output, and three DisplayPort outputs. The HDMI and DisplayPort outputs support resolutions of up to 4096 x 2160 for an immersive gaming experience or for displaying 4K content from providers such as Netflix and YouTube.
For cooling, ASUS implemented their DirectCU III Cooler. It features Triple Wing-Blade fan design and two 10mm direct-GPU contact heat-pipes, which transports heat away from the GPU. 0 dB technology allows for the card to be completely silent when the GPU remains at a set temperature. This type of cooler is most useful in medium to large towers where airflow inside the case is not a concern.
