B+W 66-070236 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 67mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    B+W 66-070236 reviews

67mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 461.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent filters! I got 2 of these for my Nikon lenses. One for my 35mm f/1.8 (52mm), and my 18-105 (67mm). I previously returned the Agfa-photo filters, which were much cheaper but degraded my picture quality. The tech-support guy's at B&H recommended that I try B+W's instead. I usually buy Hoya's, which are good too. But I'm very impressed with the B+W's. They don't degrade the images at all. In fact, I actually think some photos look better than having no filter at all! I'll be recommending these to all my friends and I will be buying more of these in the future for all my lenses. They're more expensive, but they're worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I've never noticed any difference between the photos taken with the UV on and with it off - occasionally I'll do this. To me that's a great thing, and I have used cheaper filters where there was a difference. B&W filters always screw on and off very nicely, and seem to really seal the front of my lens (which is a big deal since the L lenses need that to complete their weatherproofness). I have used Hoya and B&W coated filters, and generally I like B&W slightly more - they're more consistently good quality. I did have a B&W polarizer that started to come apart. But never an issue with their UVs. Excellent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Less Thing To Worry About Like many of you I've had experience with Nikon and Leica filters and they are solid and optically precise. This filter likewise is as tough as nails and of high optical quality. In fact, this thing is a beast 1. The brass metal filter ring is low profile, hardened, and precise. 2. The glass is perfect. 3. The coating is so sweet and smooth you can clean it with a T-shirt and not worry. When conditions and situations get dicey who has time to pull out a real lens cleaning cloth? I'm sure this thing will last for years under the most arduous conditions. I'm putting these all all my lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W Filters Are Now My Standard For over 45 years, I have never used a quality lens without a UV filter permanently mounted on the lens. I still have many of those early lenses, and the glass is beautiful. If I scratch a filter with a dirty hankerchief, it is a minor expense to replace that filter. A couple of years ago, I switched to B+W UV MRC filters as the only brand I now buy. The glass and multi-coating is superb. For some reason, these are by far the easiest MC filters to clean. No streaks or smudges, with a huff & puff and a wipe with anything cotton (microfiber cloth even better), they come out spotless clean. I have yet to scratch the coating on a B+W filter. Oh yes, the brass mounts. They feel good, they thread on & off great, and they look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality filter The filter was purchased for protecting the lens of a Canon SX40HS camera. It does this extreamly well because the MRC coating really does work. Dust, dirt and fingerprints are a thing of the past, and the filter has remained clean during two separate trips. The filter bezel is low enough that it does not cause any vignetting. Filter build quality is excellent and the glass is flawless. No distortion has been observed in pictures taken with it on the camera. Highly recomended. And, no, I do not work for B+W.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and Value Using this filter on my Nikon 70-300mm VR, the mount is very low-profile, adding less overall length to this already long lens compared to cheaper filters. Despite this, the filter has surprising heft, I suppose because of the brass mount vs. cheaper aluminum found on other products. Glass is finely mounted into the ring and multi-coating reduces the appearance of reflections. This B&W filter costs less than the Nikon equivalent, and yet I prefer the B&W because when cleaning it, the coating leaves far fewer streaks. Impressive quality and I plan to buy the same product in different sizes for another lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good glare-free lens filter I bought this filter as a protective cover for my lens to prevent scratches and damage. My previous filter would produce a ghost image of bright light sources such as headlights, so I was looking for a filter with an anti-glare coating and this one had it. I tested this filter by pointing the camera at headlights, street lights, etc. and there was no more lens flare nor ghost images than without the filter. Mission accomplished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Lens Protection I purchased the 67mm B+W UV Haze MRC 010M filter to replace a Merkury brand filter that was falling apart. The retaining ring that holds the lens in the mounting ring kept popping loose and the lens would rattle. I wanted to replace it before it fell apart on me while shooting. The B+W filter seems to be a solid, well made filter and I expect it to serve my purposes of protecting my lens for a long, long time. Nothing loose about this filter. It screws into the end of the lens with a precision fit. The Haze filter itself is good and doesn't alter my lens performance. I would recommend this filter to anyone looking for a good quality Haze filter or filter to protect their lens.
