While the flood-to-spot mode allows you to use it for distance illumination or as a searchlight, the candle mode offers hands-free wide-angle peripheral illumination that is ideal for lighting a room or a garage. Just take the head off to expose the LED and place it on the tailcap as a stand. Both on/off activation and focusing are enabled by twisting the flashlight's head.
