The BEM-2 BrightEye Mitto is an HD scan converter from Ensemble Designs that converts DVI video input into SDI and HD-SDI formats, while also allowing the user to select which part of the screen to output. VGA and HDMI input are also supported, but require the use of additional adapters; this unit comes with two VGA to DVI adapters. In addition to DVI input and output (loop out), the BEM-2 supports a reference signal input, two SDI outputs, a composite video output (all on BNC connectors). Both analog and digital audio input are supported via a 3.5mm socket, and audio output can be embedded onto the SDI outputs or sent to an AES output (BNC connector). There is a standard USB Type-A port and an RS-232 port for control via a computer or other peripherals.
The BEM-2, in conjunction with the included BrightEye Software for Mac and Windows, allows computer video to be used for the most demanding applications including broadcast, high-end military, medical, classroom, church, and corporate events. Even a small part of the screen, such as a Skype window, can be selected with a mouse and converted to full screen HD. Resize the selection window by clicking and dragging with your mouse. From your desktop, you have complete and intuitive control of video format, video levels, output timing, audio delay, and the audio channel mix. The BEM-2 provides the functionality and control to operate as a router or switcher.
