Lowepro BP 300 AW overview

  • 1Description

Paying tribute to bespoke packs preceding it, yet evolutionary and inspired, the black Photo Classic Series BP 300 AW Backpack from Lowepro features a straightforward design with appointments designed to please discriminating photographers. The main compartment unzips to reveal padded, touch-fastening dividers capable of storing and protecting your DSLR, three to four extra lenses, and related accessories. Underneath the lid is a padded sleeve, for an up to 10" tablet, and numerous pockets for filters, cables, and other gear. Dual lockable zippers offer a modicum of security and peace-of-mind. On the front of the pack is a zippered pocket suitable for documents, magazines, or other flat items.

Mesh side pockets for your water bottle are also handy for a pair of gloves and cap. Tripod users will appreciate the bungee-style straps and drawstring on the front of the pack. To reduce fatigue and supply added comfort, the Photo Classic Series BP 300 AW has curved, padded, and adjustable shoulder straps. And for stability and even more comfort, there's a padded, adjustable waist belt that closes with a quick release buckle. The back panel has a mesh cushioning material with airflow channels that will keep you cooler and help wick away moisture. The pack is made of 600D and 1680D polyester for strength and durability. A built-in, all-weather cover provides excellent protection against the elements.

Use the hidden tripod cup holder near the base of the pack to secure a tripod, monopod, or telescoping trekking poles
Two stretch-mesh pockets for a water bottle or quick-grab items
Lockable zippers and quick-grab handle
Dedicated CradleFit pocket, constructed to suspend and protect an up to 10" tablet from impact

    Lowepro BP 300 AW reviews

Photo Classic Series BP 300 AW Backpack (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small, perfect for small jobs I wanted a small backpack to replace an aging one that was falling apart. I like this one quite a bit, even though it is just a tiny bit smaller than what would be ideal. With a DSLR with a battery pack, it's just a little bit more shallow than I would have preferred. And some of my lenses are a very, very tight fit. But I can squeeze a 70-200, 14-24 and a body with a 24-70 in there with room for a few extras. I like the rain protector, too... it has already come in handy a couple times as I shoot Steelers games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The deepest medium sized camera backpack I first used this bag on a safari trip... Well really to the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park this summer and it felt like the jungle. I had with me a Nikon D750 with battery grip with a super wide 16-35, medium zoom 24-120, telephoto 70-200 lenses, a SB-600 flash, battery charger and 7 tablet. Everything was able to fit with lens caps on. Other small items as memory, batteries, clothes, dusters fit in the small interior zippered mesh compartment. The tablet slide into its own sleeve. FOR MY SETUP, THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE IS THE 5.5 DEPT IN THIS MODEST SIZED BACKPACK! IT IS DEEP ENOUGH FOR THE D750 WITH BATTERY GRIP AND ANY OF MY LENSES ATTACHED INCLUDING THE 70-200 BEAST. I've tried many medium sized backpacks & slings from Lowepro and other brands, but they cannot not fit a pro body with battery grip. Only larger carry-on suitcase like big series bags were intended to fit a pro body with grip. Now I do place my cameras in on its side so that I can get a good hold of the grip with my right hand and pull the camera out and ready to shoot. Also I can conceal the waist strap by tucking it into the slot, which is very nice. Many larger backpacks can't hide their straps or I must remove them. The Tripod holder is tucked away as well. The back padding is thick with perforated holes to breath and yet absorbent but dries fast. This backpack is very clean looking with only the contrasting gray bungee cord to adorn the elegant face of the bag. But I wish the cord was removable, but it is actually held with a sealed plastic cap. The bungee is small annoyance for getting snagged to something when strolling through a crowd or a cramped little shop in Europe. The only real irritant is the shoulder straps. The 2 straps are sewn 2 apart, which makes it sit a bit low and feel like they are ready to slide off my broad 42 shoulders. I wish it had a yoke across the middle to attach the straps. Such designed day packs that I have feel the best for my frame size and heavy loads. Otherwise I wish there was a detachable cross strap to keep the shoulder straps together. Lastly based on the depth & physical capacity and clean appeal of this bag, I give this bag a 5. Otherwise I would knock off .25 stars for the shoulder straps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from in a word, delighted. I wondered if this bag was going to be a bit too big for my purpose. I was comparing it heavily against the slightly smaller Flip-side 300. Based on the dimensions and the fact that this is an AW (all weather cover included) model I decided to go with it. The Flip-side would probably fit enough gear for some lighter weight trekking and biking. I was concerned that it may not quite fit some situations when I wanted to travel with a little more gear. Plus the all weather cover was something I have come to appreciate from Lowepro. It is surprisingly compact for the amount of gear it will fit. It will certainly handle more than I want to regularly trek or bike around the hot Sonoran Desert of Arizona with. I am pleased it will fit it all on the occasions when I am just not sure what I may run into. I read a couple of concerns about having to lay it down on the back (strap side) when opening it and thus picking up crud and possible insects that may be against the body when putting it back on. The solution is built right into this bag with the included rain cover. All you have to do is easily wrap it around the back side with the straps enclosed. Brush it off and stow it back away easily before putting it back on. I am not too quick to give 5 stars in reviews because there is always room for improvement. This bag and the B&H experience deserve every one of them. I highly recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful backpack.....for someone else..... I can't give any less than 5 stars to this backpack, even though I had to return it. It was simply too large for my needs (and I've had my hands on larger Lowepro bags and backpacks). Lowepro builds wonderful bags and backpacks to protect your gear.....you just have to find one that suits your particular needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellently flexible backpack This compact backpack will hold a DSLR body and 4-6 lenses. The interior is flexible with padded velcro panels to adjust each area.
