The GT2543L Mountaineer Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod (Long) with G2270M 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head Kit from Gitzo is a B&H Kit which includes a Series 2 Mountaineer carbon fiber tripod and a matching 3-Way magnesium head.
The included GT2543L legs are constructed of Carbon eXact tubing, which includes High Modulus carbon fiber in the lower leg sections, adding to their diameters and making the tripod more rigid and stronger than its predecessor. The kit features a load capacity of 12.2 lb, extends to a maximum height of 74.4", and folds down to 27.9" for transport.
The center column on the tripod can be removed for Ground Level Set, which enables the tripod to reach its lowest height of 10.2". Its four-section legs are secured with twist locks that incorporate G-lock Ultra, which has an internal O-ring to prevent dust and particles from entering the leg system. The top spider has been redesigned to add rigidity, and large leg angle selectors give you more area to grip when readjusting leg angles. A ballast hook has been added to the center column, allowing the user to add additional weight - increasing the tripod's stability.
The included G2270M 3-Way Head is a low-profile Rationelle head that is efficient and silky smooth due to an advanced built-in fluid-effect system, which makes it not only ideal for photographic use, but also birdwatching and compact video cameras.
Made of high quality low weight magnesium, the G2270M comes with a fixed long mounting plate (platform) and multiple spirit levels for balance and accuracy. The ergonomically designed pan and tilt handles feature easy-to-use triangular shaped rubber grips and, for additional convenience, the tilt handles can be positioned on either the left or the right hand side of the head.
The G2270's mounting plate has "anti rotation" pins to ensure that the camera remains perfectly stable when shooting in portrait mode. These anti-rotation pins are stored in pre-drilled holes under the head when not in use. Complimenting this is a redesigned large hexagonal thumbscrew on the bottom of the camera locking screw which now makes it easy to attach and remove equipment to the head.
