    LG 27UD88-W reviews

    27UD88-W 27" 16:9 4K IPS Monitor is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice. Reverse the cable if your MacBook doesn't charge Nice enough monitor for times I need a larger one with my MacBook Pro 15 with Touchbar. Couple of things to note. 1) If your MacBook looks like it is charging but actually loses power you need to reverse the cable. Yep...no lie. It will work. This keeps my MacBook Pro 15 charged without issue 2) If you are powering the new MacBook Pros (2016) the other USB ports will drop to USB 2.0. Due to the nature of charging this MacBook and the way this monitor is set up. Not an issue for basic items, but there are YouTube videos showing someone plugging his Samsung SSD external USB C into it as a back up drive. Data rates drop horribly doing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great build quality, amazing picture Usually I never comment on items I buy but I wanted to share my story of finding a monitor. I have owned the version 68 of this exact monitor and to my surprise it is different in more ways then just the USBC AND USB 3 in the back. 1. The actual screen and bezel are different from the 68 version. I will also say the blacklight bleed/ips glow on the 68 was way worst. The 88 has barely any bleed. 2. The better stand makes a huge difference from the 68. You can change the height and swivel it. 3. I have owned and returned the P27Q15 this one IS WAY BETTER for the screen colour and sharpness also the way the bezel on the Dell is made it traps dirt/dust in the corners. Overall I am really happy with this monitor and I am glad I upgraded to this model rather then the 68. They do a bad job of explaining that the bezel is slightly different and the screen for what its worth seems to have better build quality (less BL bleed)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you put it next to a new iMac, you might be disappointed Pro's: It is extremely lightweight and attractive. The display, when viewed in isolation, is excellent. Cons: I use this as a second monitor next to a 2017 iMac and.... it ain't the same. By comparison, the LG cannot achieve anything close to the brightness of the imac. It also appears a little washed out by comparison. I'm guessing that when used with laptop, one would hardly notice the deficiency. But if you but right beside an iMac, it's borderline distracting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color and features. Beware of signal through docks. Using the monitor with both a PC (Surface 4 Pro) and a Mac (iMac and soon a new MacBook Pro). The monitor color is excellent and I am running it at 3840 x 2160 resolution with no issues. The monitor has a number of inputs and downstream outputs that makes it essentially a hub as well which reduces clutter. The one issue I have is with the Surface Dock for the Surface 4 Pro. I have to turn off the power saving on both the monitor and the Surface 4 to keep the monitor from losing the signal from the Surface 4 through the dock (via mini-display to display port) to the monitor. This is annoying and does not happen with a direct mini-display to display connection from the Surface 4 to the monitor with or without the power saving enabled. This clearly shows that it is the dock that is causing the problem and not the monitor. The USB-C connectivity will be a huge asset for the MacBook Pro (new) as it will both carry signal as well as charge the computer and act as a hub to legacy USB 3 devices.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LG 27UD88-W27" Monitor Review Bought this under recommendation from sales staff. Instructions are too simplistic...had to download manual from on-line support website. Bought this to work on photography but find that it is too contrasty and colors are overly saturated. Image is very sharp and it can be displayed horizontally, vertically, and raised or lowered to custom needs. Still haven't figured out the sound part...am now listening to the sound through my computer until I can figure out how that works. Would suspect that those who are computer savy will have no trouble tweaking this to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new LG 27UD88 4K monitor Best monitor I've owned, by far. 4K is crisp and clear and the color is well saturated. Blacks are amazingly full. I use it with my iMac and the usb-c connection is smooth. Also, LG supports Mac OS beautifully with their latest OnScreen Control app with Menubar icon. The stand is excellent with easy height and tilt adjustments. Well done, LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice display for Apple I love this display -- it's perfect for a USB-C Apple setup -- and charges my Apple MacBook Pro while using it. Nice flexibility and sharp picture. It's as nice as the one sold by Apple.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A stop-gap solution for me Bought it to pair with my new MacBook Pro with Task bar. Works well with UBC-C connector and supplied cable but will not keep the computer charged. It does try to do that, and the computer displays the charging icon, but the internal computer battery slowly loses power, going to nothing in less than a day's work. Thus need to use the Apple Power brick also. Otherwise, a very nice high-resolution screen. Oh, and the back is a glossy white plastic. Not attractive. On the plus, it does have USB 3.0 ports and a HDMI input so you can use it as a USB hub and also use it with HDMI-equiped computers when you can get an Apple supplied LG with USB C outputs and hopefully enough power out to keep a MacBook Pro charged.
