Canon Rebel T6 Overview

  • 1Description

Comprising a versatile set of imaging capabilities along with support for a connected workflow, the EOS Rebel T6 from Canon is a compact, sleek DSLR featuring an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 4+ image processor. Combined, these two technologies avail rich image quality with reduced noise, along with a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400 that can be further expanded to ISO 12800 to suit working in low and difficult lighting conditions. The sensor and processor also enable the ability to shoot continuously at 3 fps for photographing moving subjects, as well as recording Full HD 1080p/30 video. Benefitting shooting with the optical viewfinder, a 9-point AF system incorporates a single center cross-type AF point for increased accuracy and focusing speed, and a contrast-detection focusing system offers refined autofocus precision for shooting movies or working in live view. The rear 3.0" 920k-dot LCD offers a bright, clear image for playback and review, and built-in Wi-Fi with NFC also offers the ability to wirelessly share imagery from your camera to a linked mobile device for instant online sharing.

Included with the camera body is the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens, which provides a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range that covers wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives. One aspherical element is featured in the optical design, to control spherical aberrations and contribute to higher clarity, and an Optical Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

18MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 4+ Image Processor
At the heart of the Rebel T6 is an apt 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4+ image processor, which combine to provide both speed throughout the camera system as well as notable image quality. Up to 3 fps shooting is possible to suit photographing moving subjects, for unlimited JPEGs in a burst or up to 6 consecutive raw frames, and Full HD 1080p video at 30 fps can also be recorded. For working in a variety of lighting conditions, the sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400 can be further expanded to ISO 12800 to benefit photographing in low-light situations.
9-Point AF System
A 9-point phase-detection autofocus system incorporates a single cross-type point to lend a high degree of focusing accuracy in mixed and low-contrast lighting conditions. This focusing system also utilizes an AI Servo AF mechanism for faster tracking and more accurate results.
Body Design and Built-In Wi-Fi
  • A large 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor serves as a bright means for live view shooting and image playback.
  • An optical pentamirror viewfinder presents a bright, clear view of the scene when shooting stills and is ideal for quick-paced subject tracking and working in bright conditions.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC permits pairing the DSLR with a smartphone or tablet for wirelessly sharing photos and movies for instant online posting. This connectivity is also compatible with the optional Canon Connect Station CS100 storage device.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity also enables wireless remote control over the camera from linked mobile devices using the Camera Connect app.

    Canon Rebel T6 Reviews

EOS Rebel T6 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I was looking for I acquired my first powershot in 2010 and took it everywhere. I've been infatuated with photography since, but haven't been able to immerse myself into it completely due to everyday life. This past weekend, my husband bought this camera for me and I couldn't be more pleased with it so far! Since I'm not a stay at home mother, I wanted something easy to learn with while still being able to take quality photos of my 9 week old daughter. I love that I can quickly and easily download the pictures to my phone to share to social media. I've had nothing but wonderful comments on my photos so far. This camera has yet to disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Learn, and GREAT Quality Photos I bought this camera less than a week ago for a photography course I am taking as a fine art elective at my college and I could not be happier with the camera itself. I have been taking pictures every chance I get. I used to take a lot of pictures with my smartphone (and some of them were definitely good), but this product has already blown every picture I have ever taken with my phone out of the water. The only issue I have is the cost of some of the lenses that I want to buy being so expensive. I definitely will need to save up for some telephoto lenses and some larger zoom lenses, but the one that comes with the kit is definitely a very good one to start with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and efficient I use this product for all my recreational photography. Whether its taking pictures of my nephews, or taking pictures out in NYC. It is very versatile and can shoot in pretty much any setting. The thing that I like best about the camera is the fact that it is user friendly. Once I got the camera it was easy to operate and wasn't a hassle setting up. In my opinion, the flash is super sensitive. Meaning, if there is even the slightest need for light, the flash pops up. I guess I'm knit picking though because I can also just turn the flash off. All in all, I love this camera and I'm happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful!!! I am just a beginning photographer! Unfortunately I am on a budget so I dont have a super expensive camera as well as I'm in college and was given this as a gift! I really enjoy capturing life's moments. I am still learning what it means to take great pictures with an actual camera rather than an iphone. All i can say is I LOVE this! Its perfect for getting your feet wet if you are just beginning. Its easy to use and understand and its completely functional! The buttons/controls are easy to grasp, use and change if needed. This camera also takes wonderful photos and I couldnt be happier! I was super happy to have this given to me! I got the package that came with two lenses and it was so worth it!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good starter camera I've had the camera for about a month; previously used a point and shoot camera. I love exploring the features; have used it off "auto" mode pretty much from the start. Having some issues with obtaining good focus, but am working to figure/resolve that problem. May try leaving the kit lens behind. I love the wi-fi and canon connect feature as it's so much easier to view pics on my phone rather than the monitor. Would recommend to someone new to dslr cameras; but may recommend a slightly higher-end camera if planning to dive into photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use! I purchased this camera to replace my old Canon that I used for casual activity. Now that I've decided to take photography to a new level I figured that I needed an upgrade, this is the first DSLR that I've owned and it is very user friendly. For someone who has been doing professional photography for years they might not think this is the best camera Canon has to offer, but if you're just getting into things this is a good way to start! I defiantly recommend this to someone who is looking for an inexpensive DSLR, and easy to use!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Great Starter Camera I have owned this camera for about 4 months now and it was my entry into the dslr world. I use it for macro photography for my business, portraits, and landscapes, and it has been a great, reliable and functional camera. The only features I wish it had that it lacks are a faster burst mode for wildlife shooting and the ability to fine tune the white balance using Kelvin, as well as higher MP, but I will soon be upgrading to the 5d mark iv for my business, and using the t6 for my backup camera. Overall amazing camera for the money.
