Canon Rebel T6 overview

  • 1Description

Comprising a versatile set of imaging capabilities along with support for a connected workflow, the EOS Rebel T6 from Canon is a compact, sleek DSLR featuring an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 4+ image processor. Combined, these two technologies avail rich image quality with reduced noise, along with a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400 that can be further expanded to ISO 12800 to suit working in low and difficult lighting conditions. The sensor and processor also enable the ability to shoot continuously at 3 fps for photographing moving subjects, as well as recording Full HD 1080p/30 video. Benefitting shooting with the optical viewfinder, a 9-point AF system incorporates a single center cross-type AF point for increased accuracy and focusing speed, and a contrast-detection focusing system offers refined autofocus precision for shooting movies or working in live view. The rear 3.0" 920k-dot LCD offers a bright, clear image for playback and review, and built-in Wi-Fi with NFC also offers the ability to wirelessly share imagery from your camera to a linked mobile device for instant online sharing.

Included with the camera body is the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens, which provides a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range that covers wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives. One aspherical element is featured in the optical design, to control spherical aberrations and contribute to higher clarity, and an Optical Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Extending the combined zoom range even further, the EF 75-300 f/4-5.6 III lens is also included, which offers an equivalent focal length range of 120-480mm. Well-suited to use with distant subjects, this lens utilizes a DC autofocus motor to acquire precise focus while the telephoto perspective is especially useful for visually compressing the space between subjects and producing a shallow depth of field. Additionally, an EOS Shoulder Bag 100ES is also featured in this kit, and serves as a convenient means to protect and carry the entire DSLR and two lens kit.

18MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 4+ Image Processor
At the heart of the Rebel T6 is an apt 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4+ image processor, which combine to provide both speed throughout the camera system as well as notable image quality. Up to 3 fps shooting is possible to suit photographing moving subjects, for unlimited JPEGs in a burst or up to 6 consecutive raw frames, and Full HD 1080p video at 30 fps can also be recorded. For working in a variety of lighting conditions, the sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400 can be further expanded to ISO 12800 to benefit photographing in low-light situations.
9-Point AF System
A 9-point phase-detection autofocus system incorporates a single cross-type point to lend a high degree of focusing accuracy in mixed and low-contrast lighting conditions. This focusing system also utilizes an AI Servo AF mechanism for faster tracking and more accurate results.
Body Design and Built-In Wi-Fi
  • A large 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor serves as a bright means for live view shooting and image playback.
  • An optical pentamirror viewfinder presents a bright, clear view of the scene when shooting stills and is ideal for quick-paced subject tracking and working in bright conditions.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC permits pairing the DSLR with a smartphone or tablet for wirelessly sharing photos and movies for instant online posting. This connectivity is also compatible with the optional Canon Connect Station CS100 storage device.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity also enables wireless remote control over the camera from linked mobile devices using the Camera Connect app.
  • Compatible with the full lineup of Canon EF and EF-S-mount lenses.

Canon Rebel T6 reviews

EOS Rebel T6 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm and 75-300mm Lenses Kit is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Beginners not for Professionals but camera is GREAT!!!! My product is good for beginners, even though I am not a beginner photographer, but it is a good star, since I sold all of my stuff for the studio and including camera in 2009, so now I am back in track, I like the camera, I could get a better one like faster to take pictures. The Wi-Fi it is a little complicated to put on, but after you get it, it gets easy, pictures are super nice.Great quality. You can not do a lot of pictures changes, but after they are in the computer, you be ok to photoshop them all. The lens are super good, the bag is also very nice, the customer service with B&H is super standard. The camera is GREAT for beginners.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon EOS Rebel T6 - Great Value Package. Bought this camera for a Lake Michigan Circle tour and we're really glad we did. Great pictures and very easy to learn the tricks. For an old Pentax MX / Kodachrome hobbyist, this is a great entry point to digital. When you open the box, you'll have all the tools you need to take great landscapes and portraits - once you buy a memory card.... The delivery service was fast. The order was placed on the web site on a Saturday and the camera arrived on Tuesday. Nice job by B&H. The only improvement that could be recommended is to suggest UV filters and memory cards. If these items were recommended during the web purchasing process, that's on me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Camera This is my first DSLR camera and I am still learning all the manual settings. After doing a lot of research I choose this camera. It does not have some of the bells and whistles that the Cannon T6i has but I felt it was not worth the extra money being this was my first DSLR. I also wanted to put the money toward more lens. There is nothing wrong with those extra features if it is within your budget. My last point and shoot camera was a cannon and I was very happy with it and has lasted a very long time and has taken many good photos so that is why I stuck with the cannon brand. I've always liked photography and this was step up to learn more and do more. This is going to be my fun hobby and I'm looking forward to taking many photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera for my daughter - Now I want one! We bought this for our 13-year-old daughter for Christmas. She's never had a camera except on her phone, but we wanted her to have a good one that would last for years. She's already taken it to her older sister's basketball game and gotten used to changing lenses. She's gotten action shots and will use these in a scrapbook for her big sister on the basketball team. We'd gotten a different model for our older daughter last year, and being able to share lenses was another plus for this camera. We have been very happy with Canon cameras! #sweepstakes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beginner's DSLR I bought this as a beginner's DSLR, upgrading from an advanced point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot. I was deciding between this package and a silimar one from Nikon, but opted for the Canon due to my familiarity with the brand. This DSLR meets my needs, though I'm still learning. The one thing I don't like so far is that a lot of the settings and functions are found via menus, versus accessible through dials. I miss that feature of my G12!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from User friendly choice for non professional users like myself After consulting with several family members and friends, both professional and non professional photographers the Canon EOS Rebel T6 Kit was a top recommendation for my price point. What convinced me to choose it was the assurance that it was user friendly and not complicated to use. After 3 weeks of ownership I am very pleased with my choice and purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good "Everyday" use Camera I purchased the Rebel T6 DSLR kit that came with two lenses because I wanted something I could grab and take with me in the car for impulsive shots. I have a very nice Canon camera body and some expensive lenses, but don't want to worry about theft, so I wanted something less expensive that I wouldn't need to worry about if I left it in the car for a few hours. This camera fits that need. It is a Canon DSLR which I wanted rather than a "point and shoot" camera, has a nice light feel and quiet operation. Both lenses satisfy any needs I would have for taking those quick shots that I may come across in my travels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a great light camera for my wife ( See remarks below) I have an issue with charging the battery. I received one with the camera, I bought and extra. Both of them were charge for three hours (I timed them) both did not fully charge. They only charged about 3/4 full. There Has there been an issues with the camera and battery charging? This camera is only a month old. ( I have been a Cannon shooter for a dozen years never have I run into this issue.) NOTE: According toB&H the 75-300mm does not have a stabilizer system.
