MagMod MMGEL02 Reviews

Gotta have it

A few months ago I started using the Magmod system and I am wondering why I waited so long. This is a great idea on how to add and change up small light modifiers fast. The gel holder is just that, it holds your color gels. Easy to load the gel into the holder and even easier to pop it on the flash. I use the CTO 1/4, 1/2 and full on most of my shoots.

The gels will change your life & transform your photos!

You probably need these, too.

While MagMod’s MagGels are much easier to handle than the old, flimsy cut gels, this MagGel Holder makes it so convenient to stack MagGels within its frame for additional lighting looks. We like to stack the MagGel Full CTO, Diffusion, and 1/2 CTO gels when creating images indoors. The gel combo gives a softer, warmer light on our subjects (when in tungsten white balance mode). Whilst one could just place these three gels in between other MagMod pieces, they are liable to slip out and get misplaced in the midst of a fast-paced shoot. Our only reason for four out of five stars is that these MagGel holders are somewhat higher priced than seems necessary. But, that’s the world of photography, right? They *are* cheaper than replacing lost MagGels... Probably better add this one to your B&H shopping cart.

All of the MagMod products work great. Store the magnets with space/stuff between.

This works great for quickly gelling speedlights and can hold a corrective gel plus a mag mask for good. I have several for stacking to make creative colors on backgrounds or to do corrective gelling. Worth every penny.

Great idea!

The Magmod system has made my photography lighting modifiers way way easier. Once you pop the MagGrip on your flash unit adding any time of Mag-modifier is just a matter of putting two magnets together. Magmod offers a huge variety of light modifiers and I wish I had started using them sooner. The attached photo has a 1/4 CTO to add a soft warm effect.

question

Can this hold a polarizer film gel from Roscoe?

Does this work without the Maggrip or is the grip ...

Does this work without the Maggrip or is the grip required? TIA
Asked by: Peter
Peter.... the MagGel Holder is considered one of our modifiers, all of which connect magnetically to the MagGrip that is mounted on your speedlight when installed correctly. The MagGrip is then what we would consider "required" for sure. Hope that helps.

question

I assume this will also hold the masks?
Asked by: Cameron
The MagMasks can only be used in conjunction with the MagBeam and Wide Lens.
