question

can this machine do pal?
Asked by: Anonymous
No. The scanner creates mp4 files, which are not pal/ntsc specific. You can probably use a video editing program to convert the file to a video-dvd in pal or ntsc format.

why no sound?

why no sound?
Asked by: Alex
I am sure the technology to transfer sound would be much more complex. The product works by capturing individual photos of each movie frame, and sound would best be captured my continuous recording. I suspect (and need to try) that you could capture the sound separately and hopefully merge the video and audio together in an editor.

question

Is there a way to have each sequenced frame separately (as in 3,600 jpg files or so) instead of butchering the super 8mm original cinematics with a tragic 30 fps mp4 file? What would happen if I turn off the machine before it renders each separate frame into, again, this sadistic, merciless, and just plain cruel 30 fps mp4 file? Is that possible? Is that at all how it works? Anyone tried this?
Asked by: Luis
I have used Microsoft Movie Maker for editing. It is included with Windows essentials and capable of changing play back to any speed you want. Not terribly sophisticated but is included with Windows (Free). It does what I want to do.

Is this a one stop shop for digitizing my super8 film? Or do you still need to get your film processed before using this device?
Asked by: Mark
You must have the film developed first.

question

Regarding the the FPS question: We understand the end result is 30 FPS video. The question in order to purchase is: while recording, does it have the ability to run the film at 18 or 24 FPS?(no Super8 film was ever shot/originated at 30 FPS). thanks
Asked by: Mark
On the back page of the user manual, there is a link to download VLC. It's free, and you can change the frame rate to 15 frames per minute that 8mm was recorded in.

question

Can it feed uncompressed footage to a computer while scanning? If not, what the USB connection is for? Can I use the import feature in Adobe Premiere?
Asked by: Oleksandr
Dennis is correct, the usb port is simply to transfer your files from the sd card to a computer. The computer sees it as a standard usb device and the sd card shows up as a removable drive (at least for windows 7).

question

Does this have a direct edit capability, or can editing be done by stopping and re-starting the movie?
Asked by: Anonymous
You can start and stop the machine at anytime. This can be done during recording or playback. As far as editing is concerned, record all the film then take the video recorded on the SD and import it to your computer for editing.
