Manfrotto MVKBFR-LIVEUS overview

  • 1Description

The Befree Live Video Tripod Kit from Manfrotto is a traveler-style video kit featuring a fluid video head, tripod legs, and a carry case. Highly compact and minimalist in design, the kit is easy to transport and set up. It's ideal for lightweight, mobile applications, such as vlogging, but supports loads up to 8.8 lb.

The Befree Live Video Head features a smooth, fluid drag pan/tilt system and offers two intuitive on/off knobs to separately lock and unlock pan and tilt movement. It comes with a standard Manfrotto 501PL sliding quick release plate for easily balancing your camera, and includes a pan bar that's removable for even more portability.

The head offers complete 360° of pan movement and -90°/+65° tilt adjustment. The tripod has a three-stage design and is adjustable from a low-angle minimum height of 17" to a max height of 50.5" with the center post lowered, and 59.5" with the post raised. Both the head and tripod have a 40mm flat base. The tripod also has relatively large feet and a hook for stability. Altogether with the case included, the entire kit weighs approximately 5 lb.

    Manfrotto MVKBFR-LIVEUS reviews

Befree Live Video Tripod Kit with Case is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality, Light and Extremely Compact I was specifically looking for a tripod with a video fluid head that wasn't only compact and lightweight for carrying, but would also extend to an ideal height. I find the Befree Live Video Tripod Kit to be the perfect choice (especially for anyone travelling long distances on foot). It literally extends within seconds, ready for the camera and lens of your choice to be mounted (keeping in mind the 8.8 lb / 4 kg load limit). I'm finding it to be a perfect match for my Panasonic Lumix G camera + the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4-6.3 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. lens. Shooting 4K video of Australian wildlife is now an absolute breeze!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice compact tripod that I have been waiting for. Very compact tripod, with a ball-joint between fluid head and legs for leveling, which is something that is rarely found on compact tripods and got me excited about. The entire tripod system folds up to a very manageable and portable size, suitable for travel or for moving around. With legs extended and folded together, could be improvised as a video monopod as well. Due to it's build for compact size and portability, it does have a load limit of up to 4 kg. I''m using it with a Sony A7sII and a smallhd 501 monitor, it still holds up ok, though at some height will feel some minor shake during panning or tilting up or down. A very nice compact video tripod. I love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for my travel rig I shoot for the band of a major university. For years I carried a 6 pound camera, a 7 monitor, a high quality tripod, and had to transport it on a small hand truck. There wasn't a single time I didn't wish for a grab it and go set up. I have now paired my Panny X920 with this Manfrotto tripod and am getting excellent results. The tripod is smooth with that camera and works great for my circumstance. Works fine with the Sony X70. I also mounted my DVX200 which also worked fine on pans, but use with care on tilts. Don't expect pro head results with heavier cameras on tilts. All things considered this tripod is a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little tripod for video from mirrorless cameras Had a chance to use this with my a7S and I was very happy with it. Super light, folds up into a small carrying bag. That wouldn't matter if it wasn't steady on its legs and fluid with tilts and pans - which it is - as long as you're using a smaller camera/lens set-up. It worked well with my Sony a7S and 28-70mm lens. This will replace heavier tripods I've been using for run and gun type situations. It may even replace my monopod in some environments as well, as it is actually lighter and very easy to move into position. So, yes, I'm liking this quite a bit. Just use it for the purposes for which it was designed, and it should be a very positive experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tripod and return process flawed This tripod arrived defective. The fluid head performed as if it had ice cubes in it, grinding and jerking, particularly on tilts. I never shot with it. Received a RA to replace it. Usually, I have high regard for B&H but they have lost points on their slow (but prepaid) return process, perhaps due to the holidays. I ordered the tripod on Dec 5th, requested a return the day after I received it (Dec 9), sent it back the day after I received the RA (Dec 11). As of Dec 19, I have no word about when the replacement will ship, only that they received the defective one. If I ever receive a functioning product, I will review it then.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THERE'S A FIRST FOR EVERYTHING; I KISSED A TRIPOD. Befree Live Video Tripod with fluid head came in a small bag. It's so light and ergonomic. I own a Vinten right now and that tripod is absolutely wonderful... my only problem is that it's soooooooo heavy. For me to fly all over the country, backpacking, boating, etc.... it's just not practical. The Befree Live Video Tripod with fluid head is the best of both world. It's so easy to set up and so easy to pack up. Don't worry when people say that it's short, you can work around it. Don't worry if people say that the smallest legs are too skinny. It can hold up my old Panasonic AF100 easily. The fluid head is not like the Vinten, but what do you expect. The Befree Live Video Tripod with fluid head is better than most $350 -$500 tripods that I used. Wish I had this tripod when I started making movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy to Befree I debated for a month, on a heavy more solid tripod, vs. The Befree live... and yes, obviously I chose the Befree. Thank goodness I got this tripod! I do heavy traveling, and I actually was surprised at how heavy it was! I can't image what it would be like traveling with the heavier version. It's extremely compact and really easy to fit in my camera bag. I have a Gh5 with a rather larger and heavy helios 85, and the fluid head is MUCH more smooth then I ever imaged! I am so so so happy I went with this lighter more compact version. This is an excellent tripod!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with this tripod/ball head. This tripod/ball head purchased for a specific purpose. I do a fair amount of run and video deer video. I have one set up perfectecly for self video bow hunting in a ground blind with a Canon XF 300, appropriate heavy tripod and fluid head. This tripod/fluid head is designed to jump out of a vehicle, travel on foot for miles to video older bucks, am using with Canon XA 25, so light gear, tripod stable, horizontal and vertical adjustments are smooth reviewing on editing.
