IK Multimedia iRig HD 2 Overview

The iRig HD 2 from IK Multimedia is the next iteration of the original iRig, a device which allows you to connect your guitar to your iOS or Mac device, access software such as AmpliTube, and create realistic amp-modeled guitar tones therein. The iRig HD 2 retains the 1/4" instrument/line-level input and 3.5mm headphones output, and adds a couple of features previously unavailable, such as a 1/4" output jack to route signal to an external amplifier without any sort of adapter.

Thanks to a switch, this output can be used in two modes. FX allows you to send digitally processed sound through the 1/4" output, while THRU bypasses any effects and sends a dry, unprocessed signal through to the amp, allowing you to use your computer or iOS device as a tuner, recorder, or whatever else you wish to do in the digital realm.

Like the previous version, this device features an input gain control for controlling sound signal. The iRig HD 2 ships with full versions of AmpliTube 4 for computers and AmpliTube for iOS, so you can start crafting your personalized guitar sounds right away using the combinations of effects and amplifier/cabinet tones you select.

I am novice guitarist who has only guitars and an amp but does not have any pedals. I want to try some effect pedals but don't want to make so many errors to find the right ones. I know some good multi-effects pedals but they also cost me at least around $150. This product is just right one for me! This item allows me to explore all the different effects available in Amplitube. I highly recommend this one for those who start to play the electric guitars with a limited budget. So great!!

After an extensive search for something to connect my apollo/laptop audio to my iPhone for livestreaming, this is the first product I found that wasn't backordered and works! Sounds really good, super simple. It comes with an iRig to lightning cable and an iRig to USB cable. All I had to do was plug the lightning cable into my phone and an instrument cable running from the iRig to the headphone jack of the Apollo OR a stereo to mono cable from the monitor output on the back of the Apollo and bam! Audio to my videos!

I bought this a year ago. I have used several other interfaces and so far this is the one I use most. It works very well and when combined with AmpliTube it is an awesome combination for practice. I use both iPad and Mac with this and like a how simple it is to setup and record with.

Excellent for personal practice.

Excellent value and a must for traveling musicians. Only down side, some settings tend to be a bit noisy and certain cable positions can generate hum/noise, both issues can be tuned out/corrected. But overall, for the price, no real complaints. Excellent tool.

I was really excited about this. I don’t know if an iOS update there it off or what, but I cannot receive any input from the guitar on any app other than amplify. I bought this for Yousician and GarageBand. No input coming from either app. I tried everything and seem to be one of many with the same problem.

The IK Multimedia iRig HD 2 is simply a guitar interface that will enable connection of your electric guitar to an iOS device or to a Mac or Windows computer. Since it is possible to use an external microphone with any of these devices to record audio directly to an app like TikTok, the iRig HD 2 will work in the same manner allow you to record guitar directly to TikTok.
