Start saving your precious memories and critical files with the 4TB My Passport USB 3.0 Secure Portable Hard Drive from WD. The My Passport comes formatted for Windows systems and connects to your notebook or desktop computer via an included USB 3.0 cable. On the inside, it sports a hard drive that delivers 4TB of storage capacity for storing your photos, videos, music, and other content. To power this drive, the My Passport runs off the computer's USB bus-powered port.

This edition of the My Passport drive comes with a redesigned black chassis, which complements your other gear. Another notable feature is WD's Backup software, which lets you create scheduled backups, to help preserve your data automatically. In addition to backing up data, WD has armed this drive with hardware encryption and WD Security software to safeguard your sensitive files from unauthorized users.

Back up Automatically
The My Passport drive comes preloaded with WD Backup software to ensure that your photos, videos, music and documents don't get lost. You can set it to run automatically based upon your schedule. Just pick the time and frequency to back up important files from your system onto the My Passport drive.
Password Protection with Hardware Encryption
The My Passport drive's built-in 256-bit AES Hardware Encryption with WD Security software helps keep your content private and safe. You can activate password protection and set your own personalized password. Additionally, the drive can display a "return-if-found" message as the password prompt to help find its way back to you if it ever accidentally gets left behind.
Easy to Use
My Passport portable storage is ready to use out of the box so you can start transferring files, saving your memories, and backing up critical data right away. It comes with WD Backup, WD Security, and WD Drive Utilities software to help protect your data.

4TB My Passport USB 3.0 Secure Portable Hard Drive (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 275.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great product, horrible packaging by B&H I've had 3 of these a couple of weeks and they have not failed, so I expect they won't. I've bought probably a dozen Passports over the years and none has ever failed. But B&H shipped these in an oversized box with NO padding. They rattled loose in the shipping box all the way from NY to CA. I can only hope that the delicate drives don't show damage later on.The Passports rate 5 stars if they keep working. B&H rates 1 star for shipping. Love everything else about B&H, but not its shipping department.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WD 4TB Portable Hard Drive I have been a fan of WD Drives for some time and this product has continued to impress. The build is sturdy and pleasing to the eye. I use WD drives to carry business and leisure files when I travel and the capacity of this one means I can reduce the weight of carrying two or three lots of storage. I have had no problems with WD drives which seem to be extremely reliable and I believe my new 4TB drive will continue to give me the reliabiity I need. Although slightly more expensive than some other makers' products I still feel they are value for money have already recommended them to friends.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great hard drive, (curable) problems with using it on Mac This disk became a brick after I re-formatted it for MAC. I returned it in exchange for another disk, and I had the same problem. However, I found a way around this problem. Apparently one should not format these drives by the latest Mac software 10.13 (!!!), only by the older versions 10.12 or older. This is what I did. After that, it works without any problems on my Mac running High Sierra 10.13. Perhaps WD people know it because at their website they discuss how to format these drives using older versions of Mac software, but I they did not explain that one should not format them using the latest Mac software. There is some incompatibility which was mentioned by WD in another respect, which is why I tried the older software, and succeeded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 TB My Passport Have many back up drives for files and photos. This 4 TB consolidates some of my 1 TB drives. The 3.0 USB is quite quick, secure via encryption and/or password. Can move it from computer-to-computer with totally reliable ability. I travel to Europe often and this is the perfect traveling companion for file, etc. For the price I probably will buy another one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good capacity drive for extra capacity The 4TB Passport seems to over good capacity for the money. The product was as described online, although I would have preferred the metal case model (was told it was continued 2 weeks after being on back order.) While the WD backup utilities seem to be doing the job, the interface is lacking as it tends to want to operate in the background and does not give out a good interactive screen so you can see more about what it is actually backing up. If you need additional space, then this is a good drive choice. If you are wanting a backup solution, you may want to review all vendors and select the backup software that is right for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you use a computer- this drive is very hard to beat ! Priced right and compatible with mac or pc -if you have anything you need backed up- why pay more or look else where? Price- check. Compatibility- check. Reliability- check (I have like 6 and all work perfectly). Speed - check USB 3.0 is as fast as you can expect... if you have photos, video or word docs or even code you need to back up- better to be safe than sorry... I wish I had a back up everything! Back up house. A back up car, a back up girl, well you get the idea... those things are just not possible to back up in today's society- BUT you can afford to back up your data- as a matter of fact- YOU CAN NOT afford NOT to...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WD drive is great Drive works as advertised - and as always B&H service was great. The only thing I would like to advise, if you do want to password protect the drive, write the password somewhere because if you forget it you will have to erase the drive and start all over, because WD does not have a function to restore your password,. I know from personal experience, but luckily I had 0 files on the drive when I added the password and promptly forgot it. Getting old is not for the faint of heart. Otherwise I would buy again and recommend it to a friend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable backup solution I purchased two of these 4TB drives to use as backups for my Lightroom files. I have a 3.5 inch 4 TB external hard drive on my desktop and use these compact 2.5 inch hard drives to keep additional backups in other locations (work plus my daughter's home). They work great with Carbon Copy Cloner for making incremental backups periodically. I've tried the cloud storage option (Backblaze) but even with a high speed internet connection it takes weeks to establish the initial backup and my bandwidth is always being taxed. I prefer having my essential backups more local and under my control. These Western Digital external drives are fast and efficient and so affordable.
