Sachtler S2046-0001 overview

  • 1Description

The FSB 10T Fluid Head from Sachtler supports payloads up to 26.5 lb. Designed to accommodate digital cinema-style cameras, such as the Sony FS7, Canon C500, and Blackmagic Ursa Mini. The head offers Sachtler's Touch and Go quick release with a sliding range of 2.4". It also features a 10-step counterbalance along with horizontal and vertical 5-step drag controls. In addition, a zero setting on the pan and tilt drag controls allows for unencumbered movement of the head.

The fluid head features a 100mm bowl interface for tripod mounting and incorporates an illuminated bubble level for easy leveling in poor light conditions. A pan handle, which can be mounted on either side of the head, is also included.

Leveling Ball with Flat Base
The fluid head features a 100mm ball for quick leveling on your tripod legs. The ball features a flat base so you can also mount it on a flat surface.
Frictionless Leak-Proof Fluid Damping
Frictionless leak-proof fluid damping with five levels of drag enable precision adjustment to match the needs of your shot. A zero setting allows complete disengagement of drag for fast panning.
Camera Mounting and Balancing
Featuring a touch and go quick release plate that you can mount on your camera or baseplate. The fluid head's camera platform has 2.4" of travel for balancing your camera on the head.

    Sachtler S2046-0001 reviews

FSB 10T Fluid Head with Touch & Go Mechanism is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid, very reliable, but not enough drag resistance I purchased the FSB 10 because I was looking for more reliable (stable) shooting on long lenses (70-200 x S35 crop). So far, I have been very happy with the FSB 10 there is minimal backlash when everything is properly-balanced, allowing you to (carefully) adjust your grip on the pan bar or rack focus without causing even a telephoto shot to shake. I paired it with the GitzoGT5562LTS tripod (and 100mm bowl adapter) which make for a compact yet stable travel kit. My only critique is that the FSB 10 does not offer very much drag resistance. Its maximum setting (5, for both H & V) is substantially less than the maximum of the Manfrotto 502HD. In fact, I would estimate that the 502HD's max drag setting is 60-75% more than the FSB 10's (with the 502HD coming in at about 1/10th of the FSB 10's price). The FSB 10 outperforms the 502HD in most other attributes, but I do find this particular performance gap rather unacceptable given the drastic price difference. (I prefer to stay near the max drag settings, even for fast panning, using a front pan bar to apply greater force and gaining greater control.) I would gladly trade 3 or 4 of the FSB 10's 10 counterbalance steps for at least 2 additional levels of drag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing head! works like a charm with my red scarlet, even in subzero temperatures. Definitely expensive but super smooth and reliable.
