BlackRapid Sport Breathe Overview

The BlackRapid Sport Breathe Camera Strap is designed to be worn across a right-handed user's body, draped from the left shoulder to the right hip. A connected camera can then rest upside-down along the hip so that it can be quickly raised for use. Incorporating a generously-sized, moisture-wicking shoulder pad, this strap is built for the sport or adventure photographer who is carrying one camera and intends to move quickly whether on flat or rugged terrain.

The Sport Breathe further stabilizes the attached camera when used with its included BlackRapid Brad Breathe Stabilizing Strap. The Brad Breathe secures this strap under the user's left shoulder and prevents the attached camera from twisting as it rests along one's right side. When camera movement along the side is less of a concern, the Brad Breathe is easy to remove. For left-handed photographers, the Sport Left Breathe Camera Strap can be slung over the right shoulder, and includes a Brad Breathe as well.

To attach to a camera or a lens, the BlackRapid Sport Breathe Camera Strap features a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. An included BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The FR-5 FastenR Breathe has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid straps that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR.

The length of this strap is adjustable from 36.0 to 65.7" and its nylon webbing measures up to 1.0" wide. Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the length of the strap's webbing make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement along the length of the Sport Breathe. When multiple cameras or lenses need to be carried, a separately-available BlackRapid CoupleR Strap allows a BlackRapid Sport-series camera strap to be joined with a second camera strap, that is also compatible with a CoupleR, to create a functional double-camera harness.

A nylon pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as a plastic BlackRapid Lockstar Breathe Carabiner Protector, which is compatible with BlackRapid straps that feature a CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, the Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock. Additionally, it helps to block the metal surface of a CR-3 ConnectR from scratching a connected camera or lens.

  • Designed to be worn across a right-handed user's body, draped from the left shoulder to the right hip

Neck pain is a think of the past and it looks good. You seriously will not regret it.

This strap is extremely comfortable and will not hurt your shoulder after hours of shooting. Does not move around on your shoulder. Camera is easy to slide from hip to face. I've used a few different brands of sling style straps and this is the best by far.

It takes a little getting used to putting in on. Once on, it is great. When not in use the camera stays conveniently available but not in the way. Getting the camera is easy and the strap stays out of the way while shooting. I wish the mount had a thread to mount the camera on a tripod without removing the straps mounting nut.

Best of the Black Rapids

Have bought and used the Cross Shot (too light weight) and the Delta (sturdy but kept slipping). The Sport Breath is the best. Now I no longer have to continually adjust how the strap comes across my should or release it from pinching my neck. I have just realized I no longer think about the strap. Earlier reviews were critical of the hook where the secondary strap attaches to the main strap. Black Rapid has solved that issue with an improved hook with a safety feature. I carry an 800mm Canon RF lens and a binocular with it's own harness. With all that gear hanging on me I am unaware of all the straps and weight.

My favorite camera strap - love the attention to detail

This well-designed camera strap is great for active photo shoots. It keeps camera and lens steady even when climbing or bending over. It is so much more practical than carrying my D850 with a heavy lens using the neck strap included with the camera. I recommend following the instructions in the video at the BlackRapid website on how to make optimal adjustments since the included leaflet is not as informative. I purchased an extra Fasten R FR-5 that I attach to the tripod collar of my long zoom and attach the included fastener to my camera body. That way, I can quickly switch lenses. The salesperson at the store was very helpful. He helped me find the strap that best fit my needs.

Second BlackRapid Sport Strap

As a sports photographer I often use 2 camera body's. The big lense goes on the monopod and the other attaches to my black rapid. I swing up the the second camera so much that the carabiner on the strap started to wear thru after 5 years of use. Never hesitated buying a new BlackRapid sport strap. I also have the BR double strap harness for weddings and events.

great design!

the design is well thought out. it adjusts to wherever you want to carry the camera. if you have a large lens on camera, attach the strap to the lens holder itself rather than the camera

Does anyone know if the strap opens up so you can swap out the camera connector with a different system? I want to use the Promediagear SS2p1 Plug connector instead of BlackRapids carbineer type system.
Asked by: Richard
You would have to use the carabiner to clip to the bottom of the SS2p1 - a bit bulky. Or you would need to open up the strap, remove the existing hardware, replace with the SS2p1 connector and then re-sew the strap. Doable if you have the means.

Has anyone used this to support a lens? I want to connect it to a super telephoto lens instead the bottom of my camera
Asked by: H
Absolutely. We recommend attaching the BlackRapid straps to heavier telephoto lenses rather than the camera body. For added security, use the BlackRapid safety tether (available here: https://bhpho.to/3A4goVc) if your lens has a tethering/mounting strap point.
