BlackRapid Sport Breathe Overview

The BlackRapid Sport Left Breathe Camera Strap is designed to be worn across a left-handed user's body, draped from the right shoulder to the left hip. A connected camera can then rest upside-down along the hip so that it can be quickly raised for use. Incorporating a generously-sized, moisture-wicking shoulder pad, this strap is built for the sport or adventure photographer who is carrying one camera and intends to move quickly whether on flat or rugged terrain.

The Sport Left Breathe further stabilizes the attached camera when used with its included BlackRapid Brad Breathe Stabilizing Strap. The Brad Breathe secures this strap under the user's right shoulder and prevents the attached camera from twisting as it rests along one's left side. When camera movement along the side is less of a concern, the Brad Breathe is easy to remove. For right-handed photographers, the Sport Breathe Camera Strap can be slung over the left shoulder, and includes a Brad Breathe as well.

To attach to a camera or a lens, the BlackRapid Sport Left Breathe Camera Strap features a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. An included BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The FR-5 FastenR Breathe has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid straps that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR.

The length of this strap is adjustable from 36.0 to 65.7" and its nylon webbing measures up to 1.0" wide. Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the length of the strap's webbing make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement along the length of the Sport Left Breathe. When multiple cameras or lenses need to be carried, a separately-available BlackRapid CoupleR Strap allows a BlackRapid Sport-series camera strap to be joined with a second camera strap, that is also compatible with a CoupleR, to create a functional double-camera harness.

A nylon pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as a plastic BlackRapid Lockstar Breathe Carabiner Protector, which is compatible with BlackRapid straps that feature a CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, the Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock. Additionally, it helps to block the metal surface of a CR-3 ConnectR from scratching a connected camera or lens.

  • Designed to be worn across a left-handed user's body, draped from the right shoulder to the left hip
  • Connected camera can rest upside-down along the left hip so that it can be quickly raised for use

  • Durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner attaches to camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount with provided BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe

  • Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the webbing make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement along the length of the strap

Great strap for my Nikon with the 500mm 5.6 PF

Set out for a two mile walk yesterday with this strap carrying my D810 and new Nikkor 500 5.6 PF Lens. I was really really happy with it. I was able to walk hands free and not worry about the camera. Right now it is attached to the camera body tripod socket but I plan on moving it to the aftermarket foot on my lens to see if it carry's as well as it did attached to the body. I'd like to see Black River come out with this strap in camo options for the left handed people. Right now lefty's are only able to purchase black but don't let that stop you if your undecided. It's a great strap to carry your gear. It handled the body and 500 PF lens EASILY. I suspect it could do a heavier lens as well.

Love it

Best option for heavy lens/camera combo

I shoot mostly wildlife and handheld in the field. This strap securely provides protection for a combination of a long zoom or prime and a camera, when attached to the tripod mount on the lens. Extremely well made and designed and the new underarm strap improves its ease of use over the older model.

Hard to find, left handed shoulder stap that keeps the camera right under your best hand, Love this strap, I use this while hiking with my 150-600 lens. It relieves a lot of weight.

BlackRapid is always the best.

i had the original when they came out ,, and it was just a sling without the extra strap for the arm pit ,, i keep misplacing it and can't find it ... so i got this updated one .. so i now have 2 .. these are expensive compared to other brands ,, but it is a quality item .. metal connections to camera, strong strapping .. great for bike riding and hiking when you just want to carry one camera and having hands free .. and i hate the neck strap and never use them or put them on my camera ... if you are going to attach a few thousand $$$ camera/lens on this ,, you donna wanna cheepie ..

Great for heavier cameras

I'm grateful that BlackRapid made a version of this camera strap for left-handed users, even if we're a small subset of their demographic. Very secure to use once I learned that the camera can be held in place by the hip using the two bumper locks. I will say that the BlackRapid camera straps seem to work well with heavier cameras, or when I used a heavier lens. For example, when using a Lumix GH5 with a native lens, without the bumper locks, the camera and lens are too light, so the camera jiggles around the waist. With a heavier lens, such as the Sigma 18-55mm lens with speedbooster, the camera strap works wonders. I assume that since the camera strap was originally designed for event photographers back when heavy DSLRs were popular, the appeal of this product makes sense. However, with a light mirrorless camera, I would only use this for events where I need to shoot for hours at a time and when I need a camera ready for action instead of laying on a table.

question

I am a right handed person. I normally prefer to carry my camera under my left arm. Will the left hand version of this strap still work for me?
Asked by: Bjug B.
Hi Bjug, The sport left does hang on your left hip, for immediate and easy access with your left hand to bring the camera up to your eye. If you prefer grabbing the camera with your left hand but have it sit on your right hip then you'd possibly be better off trying the Cross Shot which can be worn on either side or the Sport Regular which sits on your right hip.

question

Do I need another accessory if I would like to attach it to an arca quick release foot?
Asked by: Lee Anne R.
I use a Acratech Swift Clamp. unfortunately it seems like no matter what is used, it has to be removed to attach to the L-bracket or a camera plate. Also with this strap be sure to use a tether between the camera and the strap to prevent possibly dropping the camera. B&H sell a few accessories that can be used to make up a nice tether

question

I already own a RS sport that put my camera on my right side. Would I encounter problems if I wear this at the same time on the other shoulder for assignments where I need 2 cameras?
Asked by: Anonymous
I think that the RS sport has a right side version and a left side version, I have the same as you and keep the camera on the right side to which it's angled. I originally saw the strap at Photo-Expo and they did mention something about the right side version and left side version that could be used with 2 camera bodies. Check their website and try to contact them.Hope this helps.
