BlackRapid 361003 overview

  • 1Description

This BlackRapid Double Breathe Camera Harness accommodates two cameras by allowing them to hang from the right and left shoulders. The cameras can then rest upside-down along both the right and left hips so they can be quickly raised for use. Even when connected to two large cameras with their attached lenses, the Double Breathe remains comfortable to wear due to its resilient and breathable mesh pads which cushion the back and shoulders. The pads' structure optimizes air circulation between the wearer and the harness, which works to remove and minimize perspiration in warm and hot environments. For those with a thin or small build, the Double Slim Breathe Camera Harness can be chosen for a better fit.

To attach to a camera or a lens, both of the Double Breathe Camera Harness' webbings feature a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. Also provided is a BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe for every carabiner. Each FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount and has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid webbings that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR.

The length of each webbing is adjustable from 36.0 to 63.0" and measures up to 1.0" wide. Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the length of the strap's webbings make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement when using the Double Breathe. Additionally, the webbings from a separately-available BlackRapid Binocular Breathe Strap can be connected to the front of this harness so that it can hold a binocular or a third camera against the wearer's chest.

When only one camera needs to be carried, the Double Breathe's front sternum and rear stabilizing straps can be disconnected to create two individual cross-body camera straps. One strap can be worn across a right-handed user's body, draped from the left shoulder to the right hip, while the other can be worn across a left-handed user's body, draped from the right shoulder to the left hip. Either individual strap allows a connected camera to rest upside-down along the hip so it can be quickly raised for use.

A nylon pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as two plastic BlackRapid Lockstar Breathe Carabiner Protectors, both of which are compatible with BlackRapid straps that feature a CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, a Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock. Additionally, it helps to block the metal surface of a CR-3 ConnectR from scratching a connected camera or lens.

  • Accommodates two cameras by allowing them to hang from the right and left shoulders
  • Connected cameras can rest upside-down along the right and left hips so that they can be quickly raised for use
  • Large, 2.5 to 4.0" moisture-wicking, breathable mesh pads cushion the back and shoulders while comfortably distributing the weight of connected gear

  • 1.0"-wide, nylon webbings with adjustable, 36.0 to 63.0" length
  • Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the webbings make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement

Double Breathe Camera Harness is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy a Harness! One of the dumbest things Ive ever done was to work with two cameras and their straps wrapped around either my neck or shoulder during events. While I think the price tag is a bit ridiculous for just some web straps and plastic and padding, having a camera harness is a TOTAL GAME CHANGER. This setup works fine, no complaints. I shoot with a canon 5dm4 with 70-200 2.8 and a 5dm3 with a 24-70 2.8 attached. This is the only harness I have ever used, so hard to compare. I do find it comfortable and easy to work with. My only complaint is the price. It has to cost no more than 5 bucks to make in a factory in China.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Managing Two Cameras with Long Lenses I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about the usefulness of a camera harnesses, but wanted to give it a try after seeing some other shooters using them. This one lives up to the marketing. It's well made and really helps distribute the weight of two camera bodies with long lenses. The first time I used it, I spent a full day covering a military air show and really was impressed. I could easily and quickly transition between cameras and even after a long, hot day, I felt surprisingly fresh. Attachment to the cameras was easy and felt secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only way to shoot events. I've used this for 3 years now and never experienced any of the problems some report about coming unhooked. I do check the connections often but have never found them to be remotely loose. The ability to carry two different cameras and focal lengths makes it most useful. It's comfortable to wear all day and mind you I often have pro bodies with large telephoto lenses attached. I've shot 4 AMA Motocross Nationals running and shooting all day with no problem. If you carry or want to carry more than one camera this is the harness to do just that. Mines showing signs of wear so it may be time for a new one soon. Great piece of kit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't buy this, rear hook unhooks regularly I bought this strap on my last trip to the states because old BlackRapid of 7 years need to be replaced. The metal of the hooks was literally wearing out. No complaints. 7 years is plenty. I bought a new one before a wedding I was shooting and didn't realize this breathe design had changed something so essential. The strap on the back that holds the strap together has a hook that easily comes undone. I presume to allow people quickly switch to using a single strap. The problem is, there is no way to properly fix the hook so that it doesn't come undone. If I bend down for a shot, the hook unhooks all the time and like to move around a lot in my work and get low with my clients on the dance floor to get the right angle. This dramatically increases the risk of your strap coming undone and a camera falling to the floor. Unfortunately I'm back in Cairo and not in the position to fix this problem at the moment, but I basically have to order a new strap from the states and throw this one in the garbage. I really can't wrap my head around how the designers could have made such a stupid mistake.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Coming unglued! This is a great product, but it has one fatal and expensive flaw--the back hook continually comes off! I thought the first one I bought was just a dud. Nope, it just happened again and nearly dropped my cameras and lenses to the ground. Whoever designed this product, needs to fix this now! it is comfortable and the front construction is fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Better than anticipated. For years I resisted using anything other than the included camera straps, even when shooting with two bodies. This system has changed everything. It is very comfortable on the back and shoulders, and evenly distributes the weight load. The material breathes well—I don’t sweat like a pig as I normally would. The single-strap function is an excellent bonus which I will use as a permanent solution for one-camera situations. The only inevitable complaint, as I presume goes with any harness, is that when crounching on my knees, longer lenses will just about reach the floor, which is a continual problem. This is obviously worse when a flash is attached. Still, it is manageable. Overall, great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great double strap I like the strap and use with 2 Canon 5D cameras. The instructions were a bit confusing and it too a while to figure out how the strap went together. But that was just a one time issue. I would like to be able to slide battery / memory card holders onto the straps for easy access but the straps do not easily detach to allow the holders to slide on as they do for a belt. All in all, a pretty good double strap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like it alot - very comfortable Ordered it for an airshow... I figured I need a double strap harness and since I own the BlackRapid RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap and I am pretty with it, I gave this one a try. I love it and it is very comfortable... But took one star off may rating because the latch could be inproved. For security, a latch where you need two hands to open it would be better... Even better would be no latch at all, like the RS-Sport (I used some zip ties to make it impossible to open them)
