See beyond the restricted color and contrast of conventional monitoring with the SmallHD 1303 HDR 13" Production Monitor. Featuring HDR preview backed by a 10-bit Color Intelligence engine with calibration capabilities, the 1303 can display a large brightness range, encompassing log formats and other expanded-range picture styles. The 1500 cd/m², daylight-viewable, 1920x1080 Full HD resolution display panel can be driven by one of two SDI inputs or an HDMI input. Each input has a loop output for connecting other gear in-line without the need for a splitter. All functionality of this monitor is accessed via the innovative Page Builder OS. By implementing full aluminum construction and the provision for separately available user-replaceable polycarbonate screen protectors, SmallHD built this monitor to survive the rigors of production in studios and in the field.

SmallHD MON-1303HDR Reviews
Great focus monitor
I really like these monitors for pulling focus. They are a great size to get into tight spaces. Not too small but not too big. Lots of great tools in them as well.
Industry workhorse.
Cant go wrong with it. There is a reason it's a workhorse in the industry.
Best 13 monitor.
No competition here. This is by far the most iconic on set monitor. Crisp , well built , lots of connectors. One huge flaw: Menu UI is a complete mess. I can't believe engineers were paid to come up with a menu like this . Otherwise a nice piece of equipment.
Almost perfect
Built quality is amazing. It is not too heavy. 1500nit brightness is perfect for outdoor use. I have two problems though. In low brightness it flickers for several minutes (noticeable in white areas). May be it needs to warm up. When you move your head, you can see strips in white areas. If you look at it about a meter away, you can’t see this issue. Strange ! My cheap monitors don’t have this pattern. Colour accuracy is perfect but you can’t calibrate it since they discontinued the probe.
Pretty cool...
Bought this as a focus monitor. Haven’t had it very long but here are my initial impressions. Built like a tank. This feels like it should last a long time and deal with the wear and tear of set use. Heavy. I guess for its size it’s surprising how dense it feels. Bright. No issues seeing this outside. I still carry a hood because it makes viewing even better and why not? Picture quality. It is OK. I think it’s good enough for a small directors monitor or a focus monitor but it’s not for critical picture evaluation. SD card sticks out of the front. Why? This just bugs me. Bad design. Screen protector retaining screws seem to twist on their own wish they felt more secure. Overall I’m very happy. Just wish a few little things were designed better on it.
Terrific for pulling focus
If you need a focus pulling monitor, this is it. I have used it on location and in studio and it's great for both. Surprisingly light for its size, and super sharp especially with a couple points of focus peaking. Adding on accessories, case, etc racks up the price but it is well worth it. Much easier to see than a 703, especially when working with large format, WFO. All the pros use this and laud it - Greg Irwin said it was instrumental in keeping Joker sharp. That's the review that matters!
Best focus monitor
The best monitor you can have if you are a 1st AC. This thing is brighter than i thought it would be too which is great for exteriors. Larger screen makes focusing less straining on the eyes to look at fine details. People won't be breathing down your neck if they decide they want to stand behind you and watch during takes, because they wont have to get as close to see the screen. Doesn't work as a handheld monitor obviously unless you are The Rock in which case go for it. I recommend looking at upgrade innovations for the Quick release monitor mount. Also getting the ratworks 1303 mounting block to mount your follow focus off of the bottom and for extra protection. And having a ptap voltage readout facing the front if you are running off battery so you know it won't die in the middle of a take.
AMAZING. If you like the 1703, and travel, this is A+++
The 1703 is an on set staple and this monitor is just as solid. Great build and just a perfect size for smaller run & gun sets and for travel. I can fit this monitor, a Cine7 + Komodo Kit + some glass & accessories in 2x rolling cases. Over the moon happy with this little guy!
