If I skipped using a preamp and plug my mic directly into this, would I get sufficient amplification for recording?
The ART EQ-351 is designed to accept line level inputs only. Unfortunately a mic can not be directly connected to this unit.

The ART EQ-351 Equalizer has a switchable internal power supply that is designed for operation with either 120 or 240V, 50/60 Hz. The line voltage setting is selected by using a switch located on the rear panel of the device.
