The DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel from Blackmagic Design is a portable control surface that provides more control and a faster workflow to DaVinci Resolve software than working with a keyboard and mouse alone. Suitable for editors and colorists that need a portable control surface. It features three high-resolution, weighted trackballs and 12 control knobs for accessing essential primary color-correction tools in the Resolve software. Eighteen dedicated keys on the right side also give you access to the most commonly used grading features and playback controls.

The Micro Panel uses a USB 3.0 Type-C interface that allows you to connect to a computer or laptop and power the panel, alleviating the need for a separate power supply. It also interfaces with Mac, Windows, or select Linux systems. For the panel to work with Resolve, your computer must be running DaVinci Resolve 14.3 or DaVinci Resolve Studio 14.3 or later. An included USB 3.0 Type-A to USB Type-C cable provides backward compatibility for systems that have USB 3.0 Type-A ports.

Small enough to take with you, so you can bring it to any Resolve system (14.3 or later) and do color correction on location or at the editor's suite

Luminance
  • Y lift Control: Adjust the contrast of the image in the darker areas, specifically in the Y (luminance) channel only. This adjustment allows changing the black point without changing saturation.
  • Y Gamma Control: Adjust the contrast of the image in the mid-tone areas, specifically in the Y (luminance) channel only. This control helps add depth and extra vibrancy to shots.
Contrast
  • Contrast Control: Increase contrast to make the blacks darker and the whites brighter, or decrease contrast to do the opposite.
  • Pivot: Change the center of tonality about which dark and bright parts of the image are stretched or narrowed during a contrast adjustment.
  • Mid-Tone Detail: Affect the contrast of regions of the image with high edge detail to increase or decrease the perception of image sharpness and definition. Often used for softening facial features making it popular for beauty shots.
Detail
  • Color Boost Control: Raise the saturation in regions of the image with low saturation while leaving properly saturated areas alone. Also known as a vibrance operation, this is useful for adding color without over saturating the image.
  • Shadow Control: Selectively lighten or darken shadow detail without affecting your images mid-tones.
  • Highlight Control: Enable retrieving blown out highlight detail in high dynamic range media by lowering this parameter. This allows you to achieve a smooth blend between the retrieved highlights and unadjusted mid tones for a natural-looking image.
Saturation
Increases or decreases overall image saturation, you can turn your color image into a grayscale image with this control.

  • Hue Control: Rotate all hues of the image around 360° of the color wheel. The default setting is 50, which retains the original distribution of hues.
  • Luminance Mix Control: Control the balance between the YRGB adjustments and Y only adjustments made using the Y channel lift, gamma, and gain controls.

DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money I really enjoy the panel. I'm a freelance DIT and colorist and this is within my budget to improve my grading skills and abilities on set as well as at home. It is a bit bulky but on the other hand, I wouldn't have felt it to be professional enough if it would've been smaller. Maybe it's just a psychological thing. Big disadvantage is not having a new node button. If you're on the fence and don't want to spend that much now, you should wait until they add it on a newer model. It's easy to plag and play. Has a USB-C plug to it and it comes with a USB-C to USB-3.0 adapter cord - so if you're using the new MacBook Pro you'll need to get a USB-C cable on both ends, ironically.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great control surface Full disclosure: I've never color graded with anything other than a keyboard and mouse so my review lacks any comparative experience with other units....but I love this control surface! The all metal construction feels very solid and well built. For me and my setup it's just the right size. I can still have my keyboard and mouse on my desktop. The rings and trackballs are very smooth and professional feeling. The layout made sense right away and immediately made grading much faster and more efficient. This panel was well worth money. It won't make you a better colorist but it sure makes life easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Addition I just received my Micro Panel a week ago and have been playing with it non-stop. I've never color graded on anything other than a trackpad or mouse, so the ability to fine-tune your grade with this panel is a treasure and makes the grading process a breeze. It makes the process nearly 5x to 10x (for certain clips) faster than it would if you were to color using a trackpad or mouse. I'm not a professional colorist by any means, so I don't mind taking my hands off the panel, add a new node and shape it using my mouse, and then put my hands back on the panel to continue grading. If you're an independent filmmaker, music video director, commercial or corporate videographer, and actually care about the the final look of your projects, I'd highly recommend buying this panel. It's affordable, an incredible addition to add to your package, and will help you turn around projects a lot faster than you might think. There's Also, it helps that it's a very sleek looking piece of equipment. You'll definitely have this panel around for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plug and play Wow! Just got the unit today. Upgraded software of Davinci to latest version. Plugged it into USB port and instant on. Davinci recognized the panel immediately and set the proper switch in the preferences. After playing with it for 5 minutes I knew this was a good purchase. Built like a tank and the controls work flawlessly. I expect my workflow will be improved in multiple ways with this device. If you know and love Davinci this is a must have!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, excellent quality! Unfortunately doesn't have an add node button(((. But price/quality the best choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Significantly improve your efficiency Hard to beat this for the price. It's hard to overstate how nice it is to have three separate control wheels, in addition to all the other useful buttons and knobs. Once you get used to where everything is situated, you spend a lot less time clicking around the Resolve interface, and a lot more time perfecting your images. It's also super solidly made, and feels like a substantial piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend it to everyone! It's a miracle! I recommend it to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great small hardware controller for Resolve Not a fan of the tinker-toy Tangent, with its various Resolve configuration issues, I jumped at the chance to purchase a controller made by the same company as the software (and the output hardware..I'm noticing a trend here). I uninstalled and the re-installed Resolve 12.5.5 and the controller worked perfectly. No drivers to download. No configuration templates. Just a small solidly build controller for grading in Resolve with one cable as opposed to three or some wonky ethernet configuration (Avid/Euphonix).
