Sony 64GB UHS-II SDXC overview

  • 1Description

The 64GB SF-G Series UHS-II SDXC Memory Card from Sony features a storage capacity of 64GB and takes advantage of the UHS-II bus to support advanced DSLR functions such as continuous shutter bursts and rapid shooting, as well as RAW and JPEG captures. This card is also well-suited for video capture, including 4K, 3D, HFR, and Full HD video, and can achieve maximum read speeds of up to 300 MB/s and maximum write speeds of up to 299 MB/s. Thanks to its U3 speed class rating, minimum write speeds are guaranteed not to drop below 30 MB/s.

UHS-II media achieves its speed through an extra row of pins and while this card has been designed for cameras that are UHS-II compatible, it may be used in devices that do not support UHS-II. However, bear in mind that this card will then default to your device's speed class and bus rating, such as UHS-I and U3. If your device does not support U3, this card is compatible with the U1 and Class 10 standards, each of which guarantees minimum write speeds of 10 MB/s.

As with most Sony cards, this memory card is shockproof, X-ray proof, and waterproof, while also being able to withstand temperatures from -13 to 185°F, allowing you to take this card with you into extreme environments, such as snow and deserts. Should the card's data become compromised, you also benefit from the option to download File Rescue software for free to help recover deleted content.

General Features

Fast SDXC Card
The SF-G series boasts a fast write speed up to 299 MB/s, which supports the continuous shooting of high-resolution images with high-performance DSLRs equipped with the UHS-II interface. This card is also compatible with UHS-I devices.
Fast Transfers
With a read speed of up to 300 MB/s, even large files such as 4K or Full HD video captured in XAVC S, or a bunch of high-resolution images by continuous shooting can be quickly transferred to your PC. Spend less time waiting and more time doing.
This card offers reliability and durability even in intense use. It is X-ray proof, waterproof, shockproof, and can withstand temperatures ranging from -13 to 185°F.
File Rescue
Sometimes things go wrong and data such as photos and files are accidentally deleted. File Rescue is a powerful tool for recovering data that is simple enough for almost anyone to use and is available as a free download to memory card customers.

    Sony 64GB UHS-II SDXC reviews

64GB SF-G Series UHS-II SDXC Memory Card is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wasshock!!! I took this card for this visit NY to use with Nikon D850 I used card 54GB but when transfer my pictures card was blocked after several pictures transferred and my data is gone!! I was using before sandisk and lexar SD and CF cards but any problem could not be with them anytime... my pictures was savedso difficult and so expensive looks like normal after processes and format but I can not be sure and I can not trust it !!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible for A7riii - Not Pixel Shift Compatible! Do not buy if you are a professional with an A7riii. Pixel shift will not work with this memory card. I have taken multiple pixel shift images with this card and each one the first out of four images is always corrupted. What a waste! Not only is it expensive but it also costs me thousands of dollars in pay. It's taking everything in my power to not call and curse our sony for this horrible mistake. Absolutely worthless product if you plan to use it for pixel shift. I would add a photo but I can't because it's corrupted!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after 2 months In the heat of the moment the card broke down and locked my camera up, good thing I had a backup card which recorded JPEGS. Recovery software can't even find the card and crashes my explorer until I disconnect the card reader. My Canon body's don't even show a sign of life with the card inserted and my Sony body gives a "can't read card" error which locks up the camera, until the card is taken out. I'll be going back to SanDisk cards, those never failed me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster than my SanDisk ExtremePRO I have this Sony SF-G and a SanDisk ExtremePRO, both UHS-II SDXC cards. They both perform great in the a7R III. I've confirmed 280 MB/s transfer from the SF-G and 260 MB/s from the SanDisk (your results may vary). In either case, UHS-II cards are a must for shooting RAW in Continuous Drive. No more stopping and waiting for your buffer to clear (up to 28 uncompressed RAW on the a7R III). Even then, images write incredible quickly. Long story short: Worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra fast, but only half the maximum speed in A7Riii/A7iii This card is fast, period. Do note that A7Riii and A7iii only write up to 150MB/s, due to an internal restriction of the cameras.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Card Failed After First Shoot I shot 3 hours on this card. Transferred 15 pictures and then it stopped. The card was sent to Sony to recover files. Sony customer service was poor and they were not able to retrieve my files. I am now sending it to DriveSavers. This is my first time in 6 years of shooting professionally ever having to recover data from an SD card. I hope I can return to purchase a Sandisk UHS-II card. They have never failed me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast I'm using these cards in a Fujifilm GFX 50S, they work great. When compared against the Lexar Pro 150MB/s UHS-II SDXC cards that I was previously using, these Sony cards exhibit faster buffer clearing, but the most noticeable improvement for me is that images load much faster during playback/image review. Feels like a night and day difference.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Purchased 4 of these, now 2 have failed. I've just had my second fail on me. Both were brand new. When I say "fail", the cards do not show up on any device I plug them into, and so they cannot even attempt a recovery. I'm mailing them into Sony, in hopes they recover my data. These cards are fast, but far too risky. Seek alternative brands.
