LiveU Solo Overview

Start streaming high-quality HD video and audio with the LiveU Solo SDI/HDMI Video Encoder by connecting your camera or video device via SDI or HDMI. Leveraging LiveU's Cloud Service, you can easily broadcast to a large variety of content delivery networks, including YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Wowza, Ustream, and more, using bonded connectivity over dual cellular networks (requires separately available modems), Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.

The plug-and-play functionality, combined with the power of LiveU's Reliable Transport protocol (LRT), enables a simple setup for high-quality streaming video with versatile distribution options as well as stable transmission, even when operating in remote locations. If operating remotely, use the internal battery to power the Solo for approximately three hours. Plus, the compact form factor won't bog down your production by weighing down your camera.

This is the Solo video encoder only; cellular modems must be purchased separately or as part of a kit.

Does this hook up directly to internet/YouTube or to a laptop and from there to internet-YouTube?
Asked by: robert
Hi Robert, Thank you for your question. The unit connects to WiFi and Etnernet, or can use USB modems and can send a signal to the YouTube or any other RTMP destination.

Is it possible to use both the SDI and HDMI inputs on the LiveU Solo at the same time? (e.g. to stream two camera inputs at the same time)
Asked by: Donn
No. The LiveU Solo is designed to stream a single feed, and it does an amazing job of that! Also, two cameras streaming on the same ip feed would really bog down that feed. You need to keep your bandwidth as clean as possible.

question

do you have to get the monthly thing or can it work independently? and what's the difference between lu200 and the solo? They look the same
Asked by: Anonymous
The Cloud subscription allows you to use LRT, a technology that allows multiple connections such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 2 external modems into one connection. With no subscription, you get only one connection. The LU200 and Solo a very similar but differ in that the LU200 works with LiveU servers for a fee and includes two internal modems. The Solo does not have an internal modem nor does it work with the LU-Central web portal where as the LU200 does.

Thanks for your question Jonathan. Yes the LiveU Solo can connect to this setup, as and ouput to a switcher for transport or a camera output.

question

How long will the internal battery last with two USB modems and Wi-Fi? And are there additional battery packs you can use to extend the operating time?
Asked by: Brett
No statistics have been provided as to battery run times unfortunately. We would guess that you would get about 30-60 minutes. As always we suggest you have an extra battery. We suggest this USB power supply. It provides 3 hours run time. LiveU External Rechargeable Battery B&H # LIU500EXBAT1

Without the subscription services, is there a ...

Without the subscription services, is there a workable free Ap? To tell LiveU device where to send the stream? To one of many CDN? And can LiveU stream live using ONLY wiFi from a smart phone hotspot? No other modedm no ethernet, strictly a hot spot from let's say an iphone? Obviously it would have to be in airplane mode. Also would a subscription be required if I wanted an embedding code of the stream to give to a client so they can IT it to their website?
Asked by: James
According to LiveU they do not have an App. However they do have a portal, which is mobile friendly and can be accessed on the go. The LRT subscription is to take advantage of the bonding feature on the unit however it is not needed. The unit can stream on 1-4 connections at the time with LRT active. The unit can only stream to one CDN at a time, however Switchboard Live and Restream are both good options to push your stream to multiple destinations. LRT and Graphics are their only two subscriptions and neither are required to stream.
