  • 1Description

Set up elaborate time-lapses, perform long exposures, or simply trigger your camera remotely with the Wireless ShutterBoss III Remote Switch with Digital Timer from Vello, which is available here with cables for select Nikon cameras. This remote features a 2.4 GHz frequency along with a 250' range for maximum versatility and reliability. The transmitter also has access to 99 channels and features specialized functionality such as continuous shooting, self-timer, long time exposures, and interval shooting.

Multiple time settings can be accessed from the transmitter's backlit LCD screen, such as the ability to set a number of shots from 1-999 or to infinitely take photos. The duration of an exposure can also be set all the way up to 99 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds in one-second increments.

The ShutterBoss III does work as a dual-function release, allowing users to press halfway to focus or press full to trigger the shutter. It can also be set to take multiple photos with a single press of the shutter and has LED indicators to confirm pre-focus and exposure. The ShutterBoss III can also function both wired or wirelessly to better fit your particular setup. Additionally, both the receiver and the transmitter run on two AAA batteries.

    Vello ShutterBoss III reviews

Wireless ShutterBoss III Remote Switch with Digital Timer for Select Nikon Cameras is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Remaining Remote But Still In Contact I just received it prior to the Holidays so my experience is not extensive but so far the ShutterBoss III is living up to its' reviews. I placed my camera outside, aiming it in the direction of where deer had appeared on prior trips. I used the timer so that I did not have sit in the window constantly. When I returned, I had three good photos of the deer (along with several that were subjectless). The deer were still munching away, so I captured additional exposures using the unit. If the device continues to perform this well. it was a very good investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Alternative I was looking for a wireless remote for my Nikon D850, and like many others, I was put off by the price Nikon wanted for their version. Searches showed that the Vello unit was well-reviewed. I ordered one from B&H. Check-out was simple, and their handling of customs and import duties for me (Canada) was a nice bonus. The remote arrived quickly, well packaged. The remote itself is great quality. I was able to use it on my camera within 5 minutes of opening the package. It performed as advertised without any issues. I look forward to using it a lot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from functionality is great, but... this portable remote controller isawesome, but it could have a better design. Usually a spring is used fornegative electrode, but in this controller, springs are used for both negative and positive electrodes. This could be extremely confusing when use this controller in a dark scene, or did I get a defective one?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I've been debating this for a couple of years now. Three years ago, I got the regular wired version. A few months ago the 10pin connector starting wearing out. A week ago it finally broke completely. I finally decided to pull the trigger on this remote and it was well worth it. Wish I'd gotten it sooner. It takes a lil bit of getting used to because the setup on the wired version is slightly different. However, once I learned how to set it up it worked flawlessly. This gives me a lot more freedom to move around that I didn't have with the wired version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value remote for the Nikon line... Excellent choice for a DLSR remote. Includes two cables to cover most of the Nikon line. Easy setup and great range. Highly recommended. Only thing I would like to have seen was a soft case to keep this stuff all together in your bag. I use a plastic jar and that works well for me - I have a large bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't stop releasing shutter After quick google search, I'm not the only one having this problem. It keeps releasing the shutter as if it's set up forintervalometer mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vello quality, more functionality I've bought a bunch of Vello accessories, from camera screen protectors to remote releases to flash triggers and Vello has never let me down. Unlike unknown brands, Vello starts with quality packaging and includes actual manuals with their items. I already have the wired Vello Shutterboss which I use for long releases doing Astro photography and also have a Freewave Plus wireless release. The ShutterBoss III will replace my existing Shutterboss and the maybe the Freewave Plus as well. The Shutterboss III has pretty much the same functionality as the older Shutterboss, but picks up 2 features. A detachable cord and a remote receiver. Nikons use two different plug types, so the Shutterboss was hard wired for one particular type. The ShutterBoss III comes with cables for both types of plugs so upgrading to a Pro body no longer means replacing the remote. But for me, this also means I can attach the plug in the parking lot (the Nikon Pro plug securely screws in) and just let the cord dangle when I attach the body to the tripod and not have to deal with screwing it in on site in the dark. The second is having an option of using the release remotely. I can plug the remote into the cord or can attach the receiver to the camera and attach the cord to the receiver. Using it wired as I needed to do with the Shutterboss meant holding it, with slack in the cord during the whole exposure. Just letting it hang & swing a bit in the wind could add blur to the image. So now I can shoot wirelessly. Also shooting wirelessly means I can shoot an Astro remotely so I can be off light painting something in the frame and not holding the remote the whole time. When using just as a remote release, without any timing issues, such as shooting Panoramas, the remote transmitter of the ShutterBoss III is a bit bigger than the remote transmitter of the Freewave Plus. I was hoping that some combination of the dip switches on Freewave would map to the digital channels on the ShutterBoss III (like 4 dip switches on would correspond to channel 15, right?) but Vello tech support said the channels were not compatible. So I'll still need to bring the Freewave Plus receiver on trips and not just the transmitter. So my Freewave Plus also with it's detachable cable will continue to see use with me. (Same cables.) But the big upgrade for me is for long exposures, I am no longer chained to the remote.
