Godox ML150 overview

  • 1Description

Compatible with DSLR cameras with a hot shoe, the ML150 Macro Ring Flash from Godox illuminates your subject with soft, nearly shadowless light that reveals its every detail. The ringlight consists of 2 components: a controller, which slips into your camera's hot shoe, and the ring flash which mounts on your lens. Godox includes 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, and 67mm adapter rings to insure wide compatibility. The control unit is the "power pack" of the system. The manual unit can regulate light intensity in 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and 1/1 steps and recycles in 1 to 2 seconds powered on 4 AA batteries that give you 300 to 1000 flashes. The control unit also accepts external power packs to shorten recycling times and add to the flash's capacity.

    Godox ML150 reviews

ML150 Macro Ring Flash is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value It does have a limited number of power settings, but should operate on any hot shoe just out of the box. Other than an on /off button all it has are the buttons to move the output power up and down in half increments between 1 and 1/16. There are no other settings. You do get a sync connector and a power connector but not sure why. The thread rings supplied go from 49 mm to 67 mm. No 72 mm or 77 mm. When mounted it is very solid and won't flop around. That's it! The picture is all you need. Add 4 AA batteries and go. For the price you should be pretty happy. For full TTL control you'l spend more than 5 times as much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good flash for the price with minor caveats This is well-built, especially for the price, and puts out enough light for use with my 60mm Olympus macro lens photographing small objects. I like it, but: If you’re shooting micro four thirds, the two macro lenses available from Panasonic (30mm and 45mm) and the two available from Olympus (30 and 60) all have 46 mm filter threads. A 46 mm ring is not among those included by Godox, so you’ll need to buy a 46 mm to 49 mm (for example) adapter. To be fair, you would need a 46mm adapter with most other ring flashes to use Olympus or Panasonic macro lenses, too. It would also be nice if Godox provided a case (as several other ring flashes do) or even made one available as an optional accessory. Those issues aside, it’s better than I expected for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working at first use Purchased to use to capture caterpillar pictures at a botanical gardens. Tested when first received to ensure functionality. Once I was on site, the unit would not fire. There is a clicking sound on the light itself, but it will not fire. Too late to return and not worth messing with warranty repair. I was thinking of moving to Godox for my other lighting needs, but cheap only cuts it if the product is reliable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work upon arrival. I bought this unit for an upcoming shoot and once I opened the package and put batteries in it didn't work once. Turned it on and off, fresh batteries everything didn't work. I could hear the internals doing something when I pressed the test button but no light would be projected. Do not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great and very inexpensive I use it to do photographs for a costume jewelry manufacturer. The flash was easy to set up and gives good and consistent results. I combine it with a light box and have it trigger two mono-lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value My main beef is they designed the flash unit's inside diameter too small such that a 77mm lens adapter is not possible. However this is a well built unit with an aggressive price point. I previously bought Godox's regular (camera mount) flash and noticed their high build integrity so decided to buy this model from them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work Flash powers up but doesn't fire. I've seen others with the same problem. Looking for a replacement from B&H as i've only had this thing for a day. Quality control is obviously lacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great but wasn't what I wanted. Worked great but I need one with continuous lighting.
