Identity of Winners/Eligible Participants. The NiSi V5 Pro Advanced Filter Kit includes five filters that can be used individually or in various combinations to improve the results of your photography by preventing overexposure, as well as a circular polarizer to prevent distracting reflections or glare.

To allow these filters to be placed in front of a lens, this kit contains a V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder that is designed to allow for the convenient use of up to three, 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters along with the included circular polarizer.

A leatherette pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as an air blower, microfiber cleaning cloth, carbon-compound cleaning eraser, and a dust cap to maintain the clarity of the filters' glass surfaces.

  • V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit

    The NiSi V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit allows for the convenient use of up to three, separately-available 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters along with an included circular polarizer. This kit comes fully assembled and features an aluminum-alloy filter holder that is pre-installed with three pairs of plastic filter slots, a configuration that accommodates three rectangular filters. Each slot is designed to grip an installed filter only along the surface of the filter's edges. Contact with a filter's front or rear-facing surfaces is avoided, particularly when using graduated filters whose effect can be adjusted to better suit changing lighting conditions or creative demands by sliding them up or down within a filter slot.

    Use of the NiSi V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit can be easily accomplished by first screwing the included 82mm adapter ring onto a lens with 82mm front filter threads. Step-up rings are included to allow the adapter ring to be used with lenses that have 67mm, 72mm, or 77mm front filter threads; while additional step-up rings are separately available for lenses with 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, or 62mm front filter threads. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking lever helps to provide a reliable connection that allows the holder to be rotated 360°, further benefiting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning.

    Together, the 82mm adapter ring and filter holder also accommodate the included NiSi 86mm circular polarizer filter while allowing that filter's edges to be easily gripped for convenient installation or removal. When combined with the filter holder and the adapter ring, as well as an optional step-up ring, the polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. In such instances, an external dial on the adapter ring allows for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer.

    The NiSi 100x150mm Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a soft-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that do not have a strongly defined transition between the sky and the foreground. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering the lens.

    The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.     This NiSi 100x150mm Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and measures 2mm thick.

    This Nano Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 to 0.15 Filter from NiSi is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 2mm-thick, 100 x 150mm rectangular filters. It can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.

    This filter achieves its effect with a 0.9 band of density across its center region that provides a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends approximately 4mm in both vertical directions which tapers to a 0.15 density that provides a 0.5-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 0.9 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a hard-edged line of transition before the clear area.

    The placement of a 0.9 band of density that tapers to a density of 0.15 above it with a clear area directly below, allows the NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 to 0.15 Filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This pattern of brightness corresponds to the density pattern on the NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 to 0.15 Filter. The hard-edged line of transition in this reverse, graduated neutral density filter is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land, while the 3-stop to 0.5-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.

    • Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 2mm-thick, 100 x 150mm rectangular filters
    • Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image
