    APC NS 900VA reviews

Back-UPS BN900M Battery Backup & Surge Protector is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful upgrade/replacement I have this unit hooked up to my Entertainment Center, which is about half the size of the unit I'm replacing, with about the same battery life. My old unit had only 8 plugs, I like the additional plug, since your always running out of plugs it seems. Just like previous APC products I've used, this has a power fault indicator, but the placement makes it less easy to check, my old unit had the light on the top, where as the new one has it on the side where the power cord is, making it hidden near the wall. Otherwise it is a great replacement unit, that I would strongly recommend. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from we love this Works great. Runs as advertised. I use it for power backup of my Sleep Apnea machine and Tempur Pedic bed as during an outage I need to be able to put my bed down if needed or if I'm asleep I need to make sure I can breathe throughout the night. Theres been a few times in the past where the power goes out at night and I can't sleep without my machine and need power so I go without sleep or barely get any and am horrible the next few days trying to catch up on sleep. This is will be a life saver literally if the power goes out! well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgraded to this 900VA for more power, helped! I purchased an APC 600VA a while back to power my desktop. Dell XPS 8500, 650 watt PSU and AMD R9-290. I wasn't expecting the APC to handle everything and when gaming it beeped. I purchased this APC 900VA and was very pleased that I can game with 2 monitors connected to battery backup and no beeps. So I definitely needed to upgrade my battery backup. One note, there are no USB ports on this for power like my old 600VA and I miss that. The 850VA does come with it, but the 900VA was on sale at a great price and I can use a power brick for charging my phone anyways..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from reliable brand I have only had this UPS a short time, it works when I tested it, but I can't say with certainty how well it works in an actual outage yet. I have this one connected to my cable modem so I don't lose internet during a brief outage. Also, I have a 17 year old similar APC UPS that has worked flawlessly the entire time! I have it connected to my main cable box because it takes Comcast Xfinity 10 minutes to restore cable/X1 Platform with even a brief blip in power... grrrrr. This older unit is still working and I'm hopeful that my new one is just as reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best consumer product of its kind I've owned APC ups/Schneider products for over 20 years. These units NEVER failed me, and lasted many years. The 12V internal batteries are easily replaceable and easily available to buy (NOT like other cheaper units where the battery is "Sealed In" and cannot be accessed by the owner). Highly recommended products, A+++ Thank you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems like a good product, if it worked. When this UPS arrived I was pleased to see that it didn't just have 2-prong outlets on the top of it, like the Backups Connect series, such as BGE90M. If you have devices with a grounding prong on the plug (like most electronics these days) then this, the BN900M, is a better choice as some of the cheaper offerings from APC don't allow 3-pronged devices to be plugged in. When installing this unit I took it out of the box and connected the battery. Be sure to do this before plugging it in! The battery is under a little sliding cover on the bottom, just takes a few seconds to connect. When hooking it up everything worked fine. The APC PowerChute software doesn't come in the box, but that's OK. It's easy to download from the APC web site. It does, however, come with a USB cable in the box to connect this UPS to your PC or Mac, which all worked fine. The first and only problem I had with this devices is that... well... it didn't work. Mine stopped working when I unplugged it for the fist time. I left it plugged in and charged for 2 days. Then, I tested the battery and the software to see how long it would last and if the software would correctly shut down my PC. Before the test the software reported all was good, and I should get about 8 minutes of power. I unplugged the unit and my PC promptly lost power. After that, this unit never powered on successfully again. When it's plugged into the wall then turned on it goes through a little startup check routine then a very loud BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP and turns itself off. Can't even use it as a power strip. I tried to replace the battery with a known-good one from another unit and that didn't work either. Too bad, this looks like a nice UPS which could be used for the entertainment center or even security cams at work. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have and use APC throughout my house I purchased this to replace an older model that went bad. They have restyled these units the foot print is a lot more compact and sits upright instead of flat to the floor. I use it to protect my backup desktop pc and monitor, so far its been whisper quiet and has just quietly been protecting things in the background. I am a big fan of these UPS units with battery backup and surge protection. I use them on all of my major electronics. I would highly recommend this unit so far.
